Not marijuana, but while we're on the subject of drugs, some posters might find this interesting:
https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2018/06/what-its-like-to-trip-on-the-most-potent-magic-mushroom/561860/
I've often been curious about trying hallucinogenic drugs, though my few experiences with San Pedro cactus and LSD have been fairly mundane (likely very weak doses). I guess the relevant question for the purposes of this thread is whether they actually give you access to an enhanced mental state and alternate perception – a capability that is surely nothing to sneer at – or whether you're just subjecting your brain to a traumatic episode. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I've had mushys a couple of times... the different coloured stars in the sky were great... the feeling, as a whole, is not my cup of tea at all.
Cannabis lets you relax, have a bit of a euphoric and happy feel, but you're always in control and aware of your surroundings.
Cannabis is a mild and harmless drug which should be, legalized and regulated sooner, rather than later. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

And that's the reason I've never tried anything stronger than dope, and even then why I only partake very minimally and irregularly. I like to retain control.
I'm reasonably attuned to how alcohol effects me, and when I can feel I've had too much, I go to bed. Dope is nice, but slows my brain down. I can feel the impact most of the next day if I have a couple of joints, so if I do smoke it's only on a non-school night. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

^ Slower, but otherwise "normal", or is it different in other ways too (e.g. depth of thought, concentration, etc.)? |

Feels like someone has injected a mix of jelly and cement into my brain. The normal thought reactions that come quickly and naturally, I have to work to make them happen.
That's fine on a weekend when you're chilling, but not when you need to use your brain at work. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Definitely on Team Trump on this. Anything that makes Sessions unhappy is probably a good thing. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

If you do something illegal, is it not possible that writing about it in detail can be used as evidence to charge you with an offence?
Note added: Apparently, 'the book comes fronted with a publisher’s disclaimer that nothing contained within is “intended to encourage you to break the law.” ' |

I wondered the same thing, but clearly there’s so much literature out there of that sort that prosecution must be pretty rare. Perhaps the police could raid their house and charge them with possession (if they found anything), but I don’t think drug use per se is illegal.
Wokko, you forgot to include a bald eagle and giant hamburger.

The different states may have different laws. These may clash with federal laws. It may matter whether it's classified as a "misdemeanour" or a "felony". Statutes of limitation may also come into play...
All of which still leave me wondering. |
