The auto boxes in new cars these days are just as good as manuals.
I had the pleasure of driving an RX-8 a few weeks ago and although the manual was a delight, I found that the auto in the Mazda6 with its "manual" gear change option far more flexible.

if they had something 'up their sleeve' yobbo, don't you think they would be using it right about NOW, with falcon getting wheels car of the year etc etc!?!

yeh eunos, i wouldnt mind an XR with that, u can boot it off at the lights out on open roads, but dont have the pain in the arse when city driving, stop go stop go, which is highly annoying when having to fk around with gears.

GO FORD!!!! My next car, when ive paid off my shared car with the girlfriend (nissan pulsar) will be a v8 falcon.

I love Subarus though, drove an outback on holidays in jan, was awesome, so comfortable and held the road so well.

Tiptronic shift you mean CQ.

Call me old fashioned but I still prefer a clutch.

Clutch? Hmmmm....
How about a manual A class merc? Complete manual, no automatic gears at all, but no clutch.

CQ,
Will they have the production series at the Grand Prix. If they do you will be able to see WRX's and EVO's whipping the V8's.

On another note I saw a Viper parked in my street Sat night. Wow they are one mean looking car! And wide, it would have to be at least a full foot wider than the VN parked behind it. Made me laugh though as it had the roof off and we got a storm about 10pm, you have never seen a guy run so fast to put the cover on, wrecked his cool dude image for the night.

no i prolly wont see them cos i like muscle cars not little wrxs!
of course wrxs would have a better chance of winning, theyre smaller and lighter and have a good power vs weight ratio!
the V8s r pretty heavy for a race car, which is what makes it interesting!
go ambrose!!! Smile

Like most forms of racing the Production series uses parity laws to make for close racing. Wayne Boatwright got "success balast" in his WRX last year several times and still managed to finish 2nd in the Chamionship. This is the best catergory for comparing different makes and styles of cars, but the parity laws do cloud the waters some what.

yeh, one of the funny races is where they have the BMW, one of the V8s, and a F1, and obviously the BM gets a massive head start, then the V8, then the F1 goes like a minute later and they all finish at pretty much the same time! but when u see them altogether its fkn amazing how fast the F1 is compared to them!
