Not a household name and nor should it be —Wayne Siekman
Whilst not blowing the bugle of acceptance for AFLW I hate any Collingwood
side to play absolutely crap continually
This the girls did under this buffoon
Might give Lyndon Dunne something to occupy his mind / talent come Xmas _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Any danger of actually appointing a woman to the role? I find it perplexing that nearly all the AFLW coaches have been men. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

And that’s a good point but how many women have had long playing years
AFLW only third season—there may be a longer playing women prior to AFLW
Worth a thought—-it would be ideal possibly for the players like Mayne who is early stage coaching _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Why does a prospective coach have to be a male with a long playing career in AFL?
The Crows 1st premiership coach was a female, Bec Goddard.
The reason she did not continue was to pursue her career in the federal police, AFLW is a part time gig.
Alicia Eva when she hangs up the boots would make an excellent coach
And the 'buffoon' was respected by the players and left with good grace.
He was good development coach, now to take the next step. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

AFLW thread in GD, who knew?
Anyway, we're bringing back Craig Starcevich, he's bringing Sabrina Frederick-Traub with him and Richard Osborne is going to be coaching at some level as well. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Really??? Maybe it's because they have played much, much more football than women.....and at a much, much higher standard.
But you are right, apart from superior skill, ability and experience, there is no reason why the coaches are males. |

I couldn't give a rats arse what gender the next coach is. The only criteria is to build a winning side. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Rather picking a coach based on being male, female, or ex-Collingwood, how about the novel idea of picking the best candidate.
That would then be non-discrimatory.
The fact that coaching is male dominated at the elite level, makes it more likely of the position being filled by a male. |

I get that, and I’m all for merit-based appointments, but I do also feel that if we’re trying to promote women’s football, it would make sense to be trying to foster and develop female coaching, too. The fact that the first AFLW premiership coach was a woman would suggest that there are surely women out there who can do the job and don’t exactly need to be given charity positions – just a bit of affirmative action, perhaps. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

But a male will have played much, much less women's football. |
