Post subject: Ed Langdon—clubs are circling | |
|
Fox has an article on Ed and his out of contract at years end
Several clubs have let it be known he,s a player of interest
Average 27 pocessions this season has turned heads and I believe we are one club interested _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Serious footballer. Runs all day, uses the ball well and versatile.
I hope we at least have a crack. How we would do a deal is for another thread. |

Agree we are in a post that has mileage before it concludes
I will add that current authority at Collingwood are more clued in to player movement
Fullness of time the plan _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Our priority is surely having the salary cap space required to re-sign all of Grundy, de Goey and Moore at the end of 2020.
Until they're secured I'm not that interested in any high priced recruits as those above represent the 3 most important players on our list moving forward IMO. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Agree Swoop —purchase currency could be a player and as a assist could be a
retirement (Wells)
But yes let’s get our valued players first
Like most post,s on players coming or leaving us it’s speculation _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Grundy, de Goey and Moore are the priority, but a lot will depend on retiring players. Some money will be freed up with Varcoe, Mayne, Goldsack, Greenwood, Wells and others all nearing the end this year or next.
A lot will also depend on any free agents we go after. I dont think we'll be able to get Coniglio, but maybe Tomlinson? Then there's other trade targets; maybe Jake Kelly? What about Weideman now?
We've been linked to Langdon in the past and our very own Langdon was linked to Freo last year. But Langdon has become Freos second best player and they will demand a high price. And we dont own a first round pick.
I guess we'll see what happens at years end. I just hope we win the flag and send a few of the older guys off with the ultimate retirement gift. Then we can talk about replacing them. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Weideman mention is interesting as a little bird told me Weideman has put contract negotiations on hold
Might mean nothing —who knows nowadays _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

^^^ Yes, it was reported he is asking for $650,000 per year which is a little steep at this stage and uncertainty of his development.
I like the romance of a Weideman back in black and white (to go with a Moore, Daicos, Kelly, Brown etc.) but not at such an unrealistic price.
He may well prove to be worth that figure, but as of now, I don't think he is.
If we're after the romance of names at Collingwood, I'd much rather chase Ed Richards. |

I’ve not seen much of young Weed but what I have it’s when he’s good in a game he drifts out of the game
That may well be the normal young player situ —$650 K a big nope _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Really. Fourth in the B and F behind Neale, Mundy and Fyfe.
He must do a lot of other things really well then.
I think the earlier posts are correct. With those three big Pies names coming out of contract soon and Ed Langdon being in high demand over here, I doubt we could afford him under the cap. |

Two Langdon's at Collingwood. Pretty sure that Qld Magpies head would just spontaneously explode (perhaps even just at the thought)!
If his attitude, hunger, brilliance at reading the play, and ability to make his team much better than the sum of its parts is anything like his brother, bring it on I say.
Finding good kickers is a pretty easy thing to do (and you can train bad or short kickers to be careful and precise - see Langdon, Aish and Adams - still some work to do with Howe). Finding complete footballers like Tom Langdon is a lot harder ...... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |
