Steve Smith has just won back to back POTS awards in the Ashes. He made 774 runs at 110.57, including one 200, two hundreds and three 50s in just seven innings.
He is the only dual winner. The other Australian winners have been Ricky Ponting and Mitchell Johnson.
Sir Donald never won this prestigious award. |

A little bit of history.
The Medal was announced in July 2005.
The recipients so far have been:
2005 Andrew Flintoff (402 runs, at an average of 40.20; 24 wickets, at an average of 27.29 for the series; two man of the match awards).
2006–07 Ricky Ponting (576 runs, at an average of 82.28; two man of the match awards).
2009 Andrew Strauss ( 474 runs, at an average of 52.66).
2010–11 Alastair Cook (766 runs, at an average of 127.66; two man of the match awards).
2013 Ian Bell ( 562 runs, at an average of 62.44).
2013–14 Mitchell Johnson (37 wickets at an average of 13.97; three man of the match awards).
2015 Joe Root (460 runs, at an average of 57.50; one man of the match award).
2017–18 Steve Smith (687 runs, at an average of 137.40; two man of the match awards).
2019 Steve Smith (774 runs, at an average of 110.57; two man of the match awards). |
