A high scoring game goal for goal sort of like 4-4 all and we go into penalty shoot out which goes for hours. And to go down as the best epic final ever played. |

So, this century, Spanish teams have won 9, English teams have won 4, German teams have won 3, Italian teams have won 3 and a Portuguese team won the other.
And thus, despite Cruyff teaching the Spanish how to play the modern game, no Dutch team has won for a quarter of a century - not since the young Patrick Kluivert snuck one just over the line for Ajax against Milan and Jari Litmanen (the greatest Finnish player who ever lived) ruled the roost. |

I shouldn't have let myself get sucked into betting this would be a high-scoring final. Both teams scored so freely in getting there, but a final is always different. |

Shakhtar Donetsk produces stunning Champions League upset to defeat 13-time winner Real Madrid
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/10/21/football/real-madrid-shakhtar-donetsk-champions-league-spt-intl/index.html
"First-half strikes from Tete and Manor Solomon either side of a Raphael Varane own goal gave the Ukrainian side a commanding lead, before Real pulled two back early in the second period through Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior.
Despite a sustained period of pressure late on from the Spanish champion, including a last-minute goal rightly disallowed by VAR for offside, Shakhtar held on for a famous win.
To make the result even more incredible, Shakhtar was without seven starting players -- and 10 in total -- due to a combination of positive coronavirus cases and injuries." |

Thanks for the info, Jezza.
I was, of course, thinking about Liverpool when I asked. They are a long way from the top 4 in the EPL right now. They may need to win the CL title just to be there next year. |
