Other countries have political unrest. Other countries have terrorism. Other countries have tsunamis. Other countries have cyclones ... yes, Australia has them too, but only in the tropics.

Other countries have blizzards. Other countries have starvation. Other countries have epidemics of horrific diseases.

But Australia has ...

.... BUSHFIRES

8 dead on Eyre Peninsula today. I know it doesn't compare to 200,000 ... but for the loved ones of those 8, the grief is exactly the same.

After the last couple of weeks I don't think I've got any tears left.

But bushfires are the curse of this nation. And no doubt, we'll cop a few more of them before the summer is out.

Amazing isnt it. Lets just hope and pray that it doesnt get out of control. Thats all we bloody need at the moment.
