Can somebody help, please?

Does anyone know firstly what what is the purpose of the Img button ( and for that matter the other buttons) and secondly how it is used.
Is it different from "attaching" pics?
I posted this in the test forum but have had no response.

I can tell you what you are doing wrong.

Are you trying to get a picture that is on your computer to display?

If so, you will need to uplaod the picture. This is done by via the 'Add Attachments' button in the Post Reply bit.

The img tags are only used if you know the direct url to a picture that is on another website. For instance, the google logo's direct url is:http://www.google.com.au/intl/en_au/images/logo.gif

So, if I put that URL within the img tags, this is what you get:
