The Pies played an intra-club trial game at Victoria Park.
All listed players took the field apart from Paul Williams, Sav Rocca, Ricky Olarenshaw and Chris Tarrant.
Sav Rocca and Paul Williams have had minor knee surgery and will miss the Ansett Cup. Both will be fit for Round 1.
Draftee Leon davis impressed in a midfield/forward role as did youngster Brent Tuckey on the forward line. Josh Fraser and Reece Shaw both did some good things, Fraser taking on around six different opponents as coach Mick Malthouse tried him out in a variety of ruck and forward roles.
Good news for the Pies was the return of Scott Burns and James Wasley from the long-term injury list.
Burns played his first game since a shoulder reconstruction, while Wasley played a half after recovering from knee surgery.
Gleen Freeborn also showed good form and has recovered well from a shoulder injury played well.
Chris Tarrant is still taking time out to consider his future.
TRACK STARS: If it is at all possible, Nathan Buckley is fitter and bigger. Young ruckman Brad Smith has bulked up and is moving well. He's quick, can leap, and will challenge former Richmond ruckman Steve McKee for the No. 1 ruck spot.
Anthony Rocca has also taken on coach Mick Malthouse's push for more weights sessions.
No. 1 draft pick Josh Fraser is yet to put a foot wrong on the track. Key position player Danny Roach, 17, virtually has to be held back at training, while exciting, pacy Aboriginal player Leon Davis is a chance for Ansett Cup duties.
