At this stage I will take any win no matter what.
I had never seen us beat St Kilda so it was novel for that reason alone.
I can not believe how feral the St Kilda fans where after the game (and that the non feral ones started leaving at half time). Three of us copped buckets of abuse for singing the song in the pub after the game. We could only respond by singing again, but louder, and then on to sing other songs from our repotoire (sorry can't spell it).
We even came up with a new one,
"Timmy, Timmy, Timmy Watson, We love you".
(sung to the tune from a song from Mary Poppins I think). We told the St Kilda fans that we loved Timmy, because he was the only coach that had not outcoached us in ten weeks.
Onto the Hawks. |

Joel,
I hope that "grammer" was a joke (should be "grammar"). Call me a pedant, but I am an English teacher as well as a History teacher (and I normally don't bother with this, except that your context made it amusing - that's not really criticism, is it Nick?). |

Yes Alf the game was not great to watch as a whole except for about nine minutes in the second quater. But several positives came out of the game.
1. We won , 4 points, its JUNE.
2. Good games from our first year players.
3. Buckley back getting leather poisoning.
4. Rocca Bros kicking goals and looking more confident.
5. Richo played perhaps the best game I have seen him play.
6. We won , 4 points , its JUNE.
Always look on the bright side of life. |

damn true! U tell em Magpie Maniac. I certainly did not boo Monkey Friday night and last year on June 26th out at Waverley I did not boo Scooter either in fact i cheered for them. Perhaps this was just the Sainter coming through in me but still noone from this club should be booing past champions like that!

Surely not many people booed Monky? I did not hear anyone boo at the Ponsford end? Did anyone see them, where they Saints fans maybe?
Monky had every right to look for somewhere else to play if we did not want him. As did Scooter. Trent Hotton is something else though! |

I thought it was an absolutely gorgeous image shown on channel 7 after the game - Monkey and Brown talking and laughing. If only some supporters were that mature to realise that Monkey only went to St. Kilda to extend his career, after there was no place for him in the team. Whoever booed - GROW UP AND HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR OUR CHAMPIONS!!!

GREG J , The COLLINGWOOD SUPPORTERS who booed Monky - yes they were COLLINGWOOD SUPPORTERS - heard my Response amidst their booing. Not all Collingwood Supporters are Angels - myself included! I just did not relate to this happening and got quite upset as it is obvious that the big fella's heart is still with Collingwood! He didn't want to leave us!! |

to anyone who booed the big monky, i don't know what is with yous.. i don't even know if it was anyone on this board or if anyone that DID boo him will see this.. but monky is a true collingwood legend at heart.
he was my favourite player and if he was still with our great club then he would most likely still be my favourite player. to see him finishing his great career away from us is just really weird, one of our '90 premiership players, and a true black and white soldier.. good on ya monky, i wish ya well.. NOT your team.. but you.. lol
*go the mighty maggies*

I agree. It was a huge mistake to get rid of Monky.
Our rucks have taken a terrible beating all year as Josh learns the trade. It would have been very sensible to have had one of the club's all-time greats to lead the way for one more season.
Instead we got the champion McKee, who couldn't even get a game at Richmond. And not only that, we gave em Clinton King and a bloody draft pick into the deal.
What were we thinking?

Alf, it makes me want to cry. McKee for a draft pick and Clinton. What were we thinking off? Did we want to give Danny a going away present because we felt sorry for him going off to Richmond? |
