Regardless, the mrp routinely adjust intent, severity to get the outcome they want. To come up with a result where selwood gets nothing and Raines gets 3 weeks is disgraceful |
Retaliation is deemed irrelevant. Both hits are seen as intentional. Selwood's was seen as being below a reportable level of impact (Raines suffered no ill effects). Selwood fell to the ground and was in the hands of trainers after the Raines hit. On impact, it would be difficult to argue that Selwood's hit was more severe than Raines's. |
I think that is a problem personally.
Having someone snipe you doesn't give your carte blanch to hammer them into the ground but it should be a consideration when looking to mitigate a sentance.
there is a valid argument that Sellwoods action was deliberate while Raines was reflexive. One had time to consider their action, the other reacted.
Utter crap decision. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Selwood has been watching too many soccer games and has taken out some Academy award scenes to apply to his game. Knowing fully well that he was going to be looked into for his provocation in hitting Raines, he duly acted out Raines retaliation. I have seen Selwood get back on his feet after worse hits in packs and not call for assistance. I'm glad he won't miss our game we need to play a full strength Cat side to know where we're at. |

I would rather play and beat the pussies with Duckwood in the mix... His inability however to hold back from retaliating could come back to bite him and his club at a more important time of year... _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

That Daisy bump was even more innocuous. Sure the guy fell over but was he injured.
If someone smacks you in the chops it's instinctual to react. Anyone would do it, so even though provocation is not a defence in the afl you could easily argue for a downgrade. The fact that Selwood would never have been hit had he not "punched" Raines in the "face" has obviously been lost to the biased and ridiculous bunch of ghouls that is the mrp. They should be taken to court for bringing the game into disrepute. _________________ McRae for Governor-General! |

Duckwood school of acting comes up trumps again! Duckwood fell to the ground and was in the hands of trainers because he was acting for free kicks which he always does. Seems this tactic works as well for the MRP as it does for the umpires week in, week out. The more Duckwood gets rewarded for this kind of behaviour, the more he will do it, it is simple conditioning. Raines on the other hand broke the golden rule of the AFL he actually touched Duckwood, silly bloke, he should have known better! _________________ "Hey Ma get off the dang roof!" |

Knew it, they wouldnt suspend one of their favourites especially when the side needs him the most
The other bloke getting a rough deal was also easily seen, so typical of them, although the Geelong medical report said Selwood had concussion from that slap ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

This knob is a serial cheat. And will always be remembered as such even if he wins three Brownlows (which he won't).
Pity he didn't play in the days of Dennis Banks.

How the **** can you get concussion from an open handed slap to the chest. Look at the replay. It was nowhere near his head.
Duckwood has obviously taken lessons from this bloke. Epic Soccer fake of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyK1owU3e6Y

I was never a fan of hitting a bloke from behind when he wasn't looking and couldn't defend himself, that's the kind of stuff the video ref was bought in to stop.
But Rys Jones earned it and I enjoyed it. ![Twisted Evil](images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif) _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
