The cheer squad in their matching wind cheaters looked good, looked bigger, much better. |
I agree. The cheer squad do stand out more when they are in more white, as do the Collingwood crowd.
I didn't really know why they were wearing more white but I remember thinking it looked good. I got to the game right on the siren so it sounds like I missed the cheerleader silly buggers.
I think I'm against the grain on this issue because I actually wouldn't mind cheeerleaders before a game. I just don't think it's really part of our culture. |

A quick gif of what was shown on channel seven of the Collingwood cheerleaders at last nights game

The cheerleaders didn't offend me and to be honest, other than 'hardcore' supporters who go every week I guess they are trying to appeal to others to get to the games?
Personally, I'd like that money spent on VFL radio so we can listen to the game. _________________ Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, we want some Bayley! |

I think there is just so much offensive noise before the games these days, we're beyond saturation point. And I totally get the argument that it's American and 'un-Australian'.
But I think we should support artists in our community, and that includes dancers. The AFL and Collingwood have a lot of money and should be doing that. The more opportunities there are for our young artists the better so we have more chance of keeping them in Australia.
Does it add anything positive to the game? I think it does. But, like I said, there is just too much noise at the football and it's getting to be too much. The pre-recorded crowd played at the siren is probably the most offensive. |

The only highlight for me last night was that I was running late and totally missed this debacle. _________________ #TEAMBUCKS

I normally get to the game with about 10-15 minutes to spare so I probably won't have to see this very often. |

I was happy to give it a chance as it doesn't take anything away from the game, but it was awful and not done well at all. The outfits were awful, the size of the ground to the dancers was awful. And it's hardly there for the crowds entertainment. Who were they performing to? The cameras. They weren't even facing the crowd. You would think they'd do it in front of the ponsford goal square area to have some impact. And if it was for TV, the camera work was shoty. So overall it was terrible.
Hardly Americanizing the game as if Americans did it, it would have at least been entertaining and a spectacle. |

Seemed to be performing to the dugout area where the AFL stages its Grand Final entertainment. No-one sitting there.
They got lost in the big field.
Massive waste of time. Thought they might dance when we scored a goal.

that'd be a win/win. they get to dance, we wouldn't have to see them all that often. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

If I go to the footy and one day they start playing music when a goal is scored, like at Metricon, then I'll... complain! |
