Newcastle have been knocked out of the Champions League after they lost 4-3 on penalties to Partizan Belgrade following a 1-0 loss on the night at St James' Park.

The result will be a bitter disappointment for the Magpies, who must have been confident of securing their place in the competition after Nolberto Solano's goal in the first leg handed them a goal advantage going into the return leg.
