Interesting that his comments were relating a role Bucks asked him to play
and for team balance he complied --and he was comfortable to do the job
His words smacked of a player comfortable with the place he is in --seemed mature
senior attitude to me _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

This has been brought up before but I've never heard a reasonable response, why hasn't either Mick or Bucks tried Cloke in the ruck? |

I'd rather play him as ruck rover, you don't want him in the ruck. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Cloke is too good up forward to be a ruckman. Salmon went into the ruck when he wasn't as good as the other options up forward, Cloke should be one of the best power forwards in the competition, not a ruckman - forward. He is a CHF who at his best can kick 80+ goals in a season and you can build your forward line around him - don't move him to the ruck, just get a system that allows him to be a great CHF!

Salmon was also 10cm taller and could actually ruck. He also blew a knee courtesy of Geoff Raines.
Cloke isn't a ruckman. Believe it or not there is actually some skill involved in playing ruck, just because you're over 6 foot 2 doesn't mean you genetically know how to do it.
Gault had to be taught and has gone from utterly hopeless to competitive.
Play cloke up the ground by all means, even play him in the square at centre bounces if you want him to be right out of his element, but not as a ruck. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I always remember a game here in SA a few years ago when Cloke basically ran the Crows off their legs. In the commentary Mathew Richardson talked about how Cloke was the best mobile big man in the league.
Plonking him in the square to wrestle and be double teamed was never a good idea. Whereas running from the square is a good option for White because he has blistering 10 meter speed which not many big backs can keep up with him. _________________ I think therefore I think - I think |

Cloke has been hopeless since 2011. Blame poor form, confidence, coaching, poor forward entries, whatever, it hasn't worked.
80 goals a year? Delusional.
The big fella is 28. The team needs him to have a run in the ruck.
I don't see the Hawks mollycoddling Roughhead. |

I didn't do any research but was all-Australian in 2013 unless I'm mistaken.
Pass on prospective ruck role. Even Maxy was preferred on a couple of occasions.
And the last time I can recall Roughy actually playing in the ruck he did his Achilles. |

Maxwell preferred? Well that shows the stupidity and non-creativeness of the coaching panel.
We are completely one-dimensional with Cloke playing the role of 'Cloke'. I have no idea why not playing Cloke in the ruck is sacrosanct.
Back to my original question, can anyone on magpies.net, provide an adequate reason why Cloke shouldn't have a run in the ruck? If it fails, well a least we tried. |
