When Jessie White head was hit with a hip he started rabbiting on about how it wasn't a free as both places were going for the ball. The other commentators disagreed. When his own head was smashed and he wore a helmet maybe what was left of his brain was mashed.

I was marshalling at the golf at Huntingdale about 10 years ago and had spent 10 minutes rebuilding the temporary gate after it had been trampled and all the tv crew bar one walked through the gate. Piggy was commentating just kicked out a pole and threw the rope away. The next day he went to walk over the rope and I pulled it taut and he fell A over T . The Chief marshall who was good Collingwood man Norm Emerson walked up to him and said. "Jason, anymore ripping up our structures and I will report you to the tournament director and your boss. Sandra McKenzie-Wood laughed and said "You had that coming Piggy". He was not doing the job next year.

After seeing that appalling hit on Jesse White from several angles, I'm a little startled that anyone could defend it. Only 1 player was going for the ball. The GCS player never intended to do anything other than put body on White - he was never in the marking contest. Given that he hit White in the head with either an elbow or a hip (or both), he's lucky that Jesse got up and played on without apparent discomfort. It was either a reckless or deliberate high hit and it could have caused very serious or permanent injury. If it were up to me, I would give him 6 weeks for it.
