Nice article from the Aged (courtesy of spotting it on Big Footy)
Quote: | The AFL's indigenous round is a nod to Australia's first people and their contribution to the game. Tony Armstrong is yet to make the football impression he craves, but his story is a compelling one of a contemporary Aboriginal man making his way in the world while trying to be a footballer. |

Good read IMO. If you want to bag him out as a footballer and/or wish him injury or delistment, do everyone a favour and just don't bother posting it here. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

i am surprised this was not posted earlier particularly given it is indigenous round. i read the article the other day and it supports the type of person he comes across as. he is under no illusions about his footy and clubs need people like ta. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Great read and great reminder about the pressures these guys are under and that they are real people not just footy players. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Thanks for posting that, Stui. Seems like an intelligent and thoughtful guy. Hope he can achieve what he wants at AFL level. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I enjoyed reading that and learning a little more about Tony outside of football!
I don't think he'll be on the list next year but I admire what he's trying to achieve outside of football and for his sake I hope he can make it in this system. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

A good article, nice to hear of a footballer who actually has a good taste in music. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

Sounds like a nice guy, for sure, but sadly an average player, hes no Leon Davis. I was thinking the other day the Pies have a real lack of aboriginal players, less than any other team, i woud say ? _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Yes indeedy. Good read. Meredith festival - good stuff.
Would be good if his form improves where he could get to 50 games. Nevertheless, making a go at it in many aspects of his life, well done Tony Armstrong _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

I saw Tony at the first Rally at Flinders St supporting the protest against closure of Aboriginal homelads...

Played a good, solid game in the VFL today. His tackling and attack on the ball is improving. |
