Post subject: Who gets delisted/traded at the end of the year? | |
|
Approaching the run home to the finals, it's as good a time as any to think about which players might be moved on at the end of this season.
FWIW, here's my probable de-list:
Young
Armstrong
Dwyer
Thomas (re-rookied)
Keeffe (re-rookied)
Karnezis
Plus possible trades:
Gault
Kennedy (I hope we keep him)

It takes tall players up to five years to develop. So I'd give Gault one more year and review his progress then. I'd keep Karnezis as a depth player much like Sam Dwyer.
Not too sure about Thomas and Keefe until they cop their penalty.
But I agree with cutting Young and Armstrong loose. Apart from them I can't think of anyone else we need to get rid of.
However when we start thinking about trading for the likes of Treloar the question is who do we have of value that we'd be willing to trade? |

Young and Armstrong are gone I think.
Thomas - gone
Keeffe - delist and re rookie
Sam Dwyer - step above VFL can't quite get it done at AFL level. Pushed out by youth. Gone.
Frost needs to be elevated to be kept I think, so that gives us 3 live picks.
Gault is on the rookie list so delisting him doesn't free up a spot on the primary list and I'm not even sure if we CAN trade a rookie, I'd keep him for another year.
Karnezis, if he doesn't show something delist and rookie. That makes 4 picks _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Young - Certainty
Armstrong - Certainty
Dwyer - Certainty
Thomas (re-rookied) No Chance, Pert and Eddie would look like imbeciles.
Keeffe (re-rookied) as above
Karnezis - Will keep for one more season as he needs a fit full preseason to be judged. Skating on thin ice.
A few Players will be put on the table to see if a good deal can be done. You have to offer up something to get something. I suggest these players.

Yeah, I think you might be right about Fas and Seedsman. They've both been around for a few years now and have still not really cemented their spots. Seedman is particularly on thin ice, now that he's been dropped. The next chance he gets at a senior spot will no doubt be his last you'd think. |

Though I'm no expert, my readings / listening about this year's draft is that it's very shallow. Talk that beyond Pick 30 the cupboards a bit bare. So, delisting to free up a lot of picks is questionable.
Armstrong and Young - thanks and good luck. Thomas gone. Keefe delist and re-rookie depending on penalty. That's it for me. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Getting rid of Seedsman would be a huge mistake, I feel. He's only going to get better with time, and is already pretty handy.
I'd keep Dwyer over Karnezis, but evidently the match committee feel differently. I guess age isn't really on his side.
Armstrong's a rookie, so not sure if he 'counts' (though he's obviously gone). _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Agree with Dalyc.
Karnesis on very thin ice, delist and rookie?
Seedsman and Fasolo, probably keep both but either could be traded/delisted if we need the spots. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all teams have to turn over a minimum of 5 players each year? |

No way would I even think about delisting Kennedy, Karnezis or Seedsman. That's crazy. Dwyer is now depth and so is Armstrong. Youngy could be on thin ice. I still don't know about Gault. We may have to keep him as we don't know if Lachie Keeffe will be back.
I would be betting we take a max of only three in the ND. We are looking heavily at trading in a gun mid and probably another. Also we would be talking to restricted free agents who fit our needs and are in the right age range for our list profile. I see four to five main list changes. Maybe we lose Dwyer, Young, Thomas and Keeffe. _________________ Magpies love pies(Lol) |

I heard we are trading Cloke, Pendles and Swan so that we can get more top 10 draft picks to use on players that have already broken down...... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Pretty sure it's 3, that's why I specifically mentioned that in my post. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I would play Young and Karnesis in the seniors this season and assess them after that. Seedsman I would definitely keep. The others I agree with FWIW. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. This is close.
Gone from senior list - Young, Dwyer, Keeffe, Thomas
Gone from rookie list - Armstrong, Frost (promoted)
That leaves 3x senior list spots and 2x rookie list spots to be taken by Keeffe and Thomas.
3x live picks going into trade - draft period, 0x rookie spots.
Would like to free up an extra rookie spot to grab Ryan Pendles but for who... Gault? |
