The old 'class' distinctions are a thing of the past and irrelevant now IMHO.
Everyone gets born and eventually they die.
What happens in between is just an interlude and its up to everyone, no matter what 'class' they were born into to make the most of what they have been given. |
So you don't think classism exists in this country? |

One of the reasons I like Collingwood is their
working class background.
"Kill for Collingwood" is an apt description of the
roots of our struggle.
Struggle street, working class heroes, gutter rats etc.. etc..
describe Collingwood!
I say Fu...k the Corporates!!!!!

Could not agree more. Top post. |
I'm sure the corporates running this world and enjoying ever increasing extreme wealth want the rest of us to swallow that line. It's a nice sentiment but it's bullsh#t. Our society has never been more class divided in its history imo, but the power of the media has blinded most people to mindless consumerism and belief that we can all make it. Sorry, we can't all make it. Just as we can't all win lotto. |

I've had several problems with Ed over the journey, but I do believe he is a generous person. I've seen him give very blatant clues to people on those shows, and yeah, it might be to help his own conscience or whatever, but he certainly does have a soft spot for the underdog, The hard done by.
He IS a Magpie after all!

Sounds a bit more like a PR stunt than a spontaneous act of generosity, but as such things go it sounds like a nice gesture. And I'm sure Eddie sincerely felt like he was doing a good deed.
I generally wouldn't look to TV game shows as moral examples, though. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Dangles of course classism exists in this country, it's just irrelevant m8.
I'm nearly 61 and was born in a time of working class versus bosses. My father was a master bootmaker, leading hand and union rep. I was raised strictly to respect unionism as 'the only protection for the working man'.
I still respect unionism to this day as it's dead set truly a workers only protection but just as we stop relying on our parents for protection as we grow older so we need to learn to rely on ourselves and our god given talents and learned skills to 'get ahead'.
Relying on a union is just as silly as relying on the government, learning to be self reliant is the only true protection and way ahead. |

More 'each to their own' and 'dog eat dog' philosophy from drover…
I disagree and believe a successful society like a great footy team supports each other. United we stand divided we fall.
Unions have been under attack by the far right for decades because they want to do as they wish in an unregulated and money driven society where the rich get their way and bully and persuade others to kneel to their will. Drover/Collie/Jack are some or one? of their minions…
Funny how the Liberals also deny there is any class war then go about giving the corporations often foreign owned and wealthy massive subsidies and tax breaks and various favours and then screw the Aussie battlers! _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Firstly I take the severest exception to your insinuations regarding multiple sigs. The nastiest thing is that - as you and I both know - it's unprovable either way so you get a free swing.
I've got a word for someone that takes cheap shots with no possibility of retaliation sunshine but I for one will remain adult.
Secondly I have no problem with your philosophy but it's just that - a philosophy and unworkable in reality.
TRUE justice and equality is only attainable on an individual level and anyone who believes otherwise is in for a very nasty shock when reality bites them. |

When those battling young kids step out of bed every morning and put their new shoes on they will say a thanks to the man they see made it happen.
I dont think the moral or social issue will count to them. _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Would people rather Ed said suck shit you made the wrong pick and then cracked a few jokes about barefoot school kids?
He does the right thing, for whatever reason, and people whinge about it.
Having said that it is a TV show and as such is without any great moral or ethical significance. _________________ Carlscum 120 years being cheating scum |
