Sorry Greg but as you know, "Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan."
I was wrong, the sh*tfulness of North Melbourne made me forget the sh*tfulness of Richmond. they have done it again. This time with one of the best Richmond teams in 2 decades.
I feel sorry for Damien Hardwick, he seems like a good coach. Richmond could destroy him.

For the record, Nahas had more than twice as many kicks as Cotchin. And Nahas only had 7. |

Went to the game. Massive noisy crowd - 80% Richmond.
Geez did the aisles fill with Richmond fans bailing just before the siren.
Heaps of bagging of Cothcin by their fans after the game. Richmond fans are choice - calling their own captain soft, a downhill skier.
I silently smirked all the way home.
For all the Richmond bluff & bullsh1t...they last just one more week than us and are gone without a yelp.

If he wasn't injured (and he didn't look like he was), then I understand their view about Cotchin. About now, I'd be looking to trade him and Lids out - neither of them seems to step up in September - and that, ultimately, is the job. It doesn't matter how pretty your skills look during the season if you can't do the hard things in September (well, unless you want to play for, say, Brisbane).
That's the thing about our great game - the Men don't always win the Flag but the Boys never do. |

there's more. with the loss of the stadium filling tiger fans it forecasts the death knell of our favorite venue, ANZ Stadium, as a locale for AFL football.
You won't get two men and a cat to venture up here to watch North Melbourne. And the trendies who barrack for the Swans prefer to watch at their impossible to get to home ground, the SCG.
So ANZ will get 20 thousand if we are lucky. Plus watching Swans v North is about as exciting as watching Luton Town v Aldershot.
What a mighty record the Magpies had at the big Olympic Stadium over the years. Ten wins and only 3 losses. And for those who said the place had no atmosphere, there were those magical moments when the crowd changed from red and white to black and white halfway through the last quarter. |
