AFL news has this.
Members of the public can pay $33 to hear James Hird talk for the first time
about the suspensions
It will be held ironicaly at the Ethics Centre in Sydney on Sundaynight

I saw on twitter somewhere that Tracey Holmes (I think it was) said she wasn't aware of Hird receiving any money for the speaking engagement.
Even if he is, you can't reasonably hold that against him. He has bills to pay and by various accounts some of them are pretty substantial.
