Post subject: Lou Richards Hall of Fame Legend? | |
|
Hey all,
Bloody nice day in Melbourne
Anyway, I am spending it sitting on my backside reading and got round to reading about the 2018 Hall of Fame and there could be another Legend elevated this season as there is over 280 in the hall and ten percent can be legends.
The piece I was reading spoke about Lou Richards as a possible candidate. How amazing would that be?!?! His footy record isn't as good as some of the others that are mentioned but surely his work in football for the decades after his retirement means something.
Do you think a ground swell of support at the grass roots level can influence something like this? If heaps iof people were talking about Lou for Legend in 2018, could it influence those who make the decisions?
Anyway, do you think he has a shot at being recognised as a legend of the game officially? To me he already is.

I don't know why you would say that. Plenty of the losers in the HOF didn't even play for Collingwood, let alone captain the Club. |

It's a real shame that they won't allow the off-field stuff to be taken into consideration when elevating someone to legend status. It puts Lou in another stratosphere. _________________ Quality over quantity |

Should have done when he was with us but the AFL kept saying no. To be honest the clubs, all of them, should have told the AFL to do it but for what ever reason wouldn't. He is a legend to us anyway. It doesn't matter now. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Look, this just stinks. He should have been made a legend of the game years ago, at the very least before he died, so he knew about it. Not that it would have worried him in the slightest. He led too good a life to be concerned about the petty decisions the AFL make. |

I am happy with the rule that legend status is based purely on deeds on the field or as a coach.
Lou doesn't need this honour to be known as a legend. He is anyway.
On another note, John Worsfold is not even in the Hall of Fame because deeds as a coach cannot be combined with deeds as a player. In some ways that is a bigger injustice.. _________________ "You must be a parking ticket, cuz you got fine written all over you" Glen Quagmire |

Nah - Worsfold didn't play for or coach Collinqwood, so he goes to the back of the queue. |

Look these decisions come from an organization that erected a life size statue of Gollum - a man that made a career out of forcing the opposition to give him free kicks.
The fact that the greatest coach the game has ever seen is unrecognized at the G whilst this little slime bucket is shows you the attitude at AFL house to all things Collingwood.
And that will NEVER, EVER, EVER change. _________________ Pies forever |

How about Bobby Rose, who some say was the best footballer of his generation?
It's obvious the suits who run the AFL, have a deep seated hatred of Collingwood, because our culture is historic, deep seated, real, organic and genuine, as opposed to the shallow, commercialised, corporate, transitory bull shit 'culture' the AFL tries to impose on today's 'customers'. |

The AFL website states:
"The Hall of Fame has a special category of inductees known as Legends. Individuals are selected for Legend status if they have had a particularly significant positive impact on the game of Australian Football.
I would think Little Lou Lou meets that criterion easily. _________________ No one needs to get hurt, it's only business. |

69 years Lou is and was a Magpie legend and captain.
That is a crime in the eyes of all the old VFL brigade, the only reason both Coventry and McHale are legends is that their astonishing achievements could not be hidden from the wider sporting community.
That is the way it has been through my period of Collingwood support which numbers over half a century. It will remain that way whilst the AFL are dominated by Collingwood haters and their witless lick spittle mouthpieces the mud raking media continue to fan the witless morons in the community that love to repeat their mindless toothless jokes and pass on their spite.
Collingwood hate has been passed off as good natured jokes by the media but it is a calculated strategy to win over the rednecks to their networks at the expense of our club. _________________ Pies forever |
