Well for the first time a contract extension is being based on team performance rather than just blind faith in an individual so that's a positive.
Buckley now has 3 years to win us a flag or he should walk after 11 seasons for failing to do so.
Pretty simple really. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

MM had us in four GF,s for one premiership from 2000 to 2011 and we sure loved it
Bucks has just got us into a GF for the first time after coaching 2011 to 2018
Who is to say Nathan will fail in his next attempt / s
We have began to build a formidable group who pushed the boundaries with constant injuries and other events
My personal drive is to make 16 flags then surpass that to 17 or more _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

You can bang on about all of the positives going on at Collingwood with the coaches and the players, but so long as the theme song contains the word "cakewalk", we are no chance to win a flag ....... _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Baz, some questions:
Do you remember when they started playing the club songs from speakers before games? (I don't think this was happening in the 50s.)
What about players running through cheersquad banners?
And do you remember when it started to become hard to get a Grand Final ticket? (You could just walk up on the morning of the game in the 50s.) |

Started my GF,s in 1952 and the supporters sang the song as the boys ran out
thru a black and white crepe paper covering at the exit from the race
I remember the mid year Collingwood v Geelong game at Geelong in 1953 & the Cats were coming off 23 straight victories—we nutted them that day and the train back to Spencer Street our song was sung until we were hoarse
Cake walk was in it I’ll guarantee that
Tickets booking came around the 60,s. I had to book 1966 one I’m sure _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

The 52 GF we walked from close by Fitzroy Baths to the G at around 6am and got there before 7am —-you joined the queue usually twenty back from ticket box
Tickets started selling bout 10am and we got them and ran like the bejezus to the fence (wing Bay 13) and procedded to decorate the fence
Under 19 game started soon then the Magoo,s —then the big one
Superstitious we were as 51 and 52 finals we did up the fence so 53 we didn’t
It worked “Good Old Collingwood forever swept the crowd
Ah those salad days. I loved living thru them _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Thanks for that, Baz.
I guess getting a ticket was not completely easy if you had to line up before 7am on GF day.
I assume back then, all the GFs you went to had almost all of the crowd supporters of one of the two teams actually playing, right? Not like now, when there are corporate boxes, neutral fans, etc. Maybe they still had MCC members, though... |
