Played like we thought we were premiership favourites.
Fantastic game by Moore.
A few others played ok whilst the majority were well below par.
Hopefully this game has removed any cobwebs and we can go up from here. _________________ - Side By Side - |

Look, i saw in the last 10 min of the first quarter, what we can do. The rest of this game was flotsam and jetsom, a flip of the coin, Geelong got lucky; in every way , including umpire's calls. I walk away from this game feeling calm: Moore and Elliott are elite. We need to work pn how best to structure our forward line. Mihocel unable tonight to bring structure. need to work on best midfield combinations to take advantage of our assets. Key difficulty we had was lack of aerial power in forward line.Cox was down tonight. But he was also deployed in defence, and absent for that reason.
Our mercurial handball from last year was also warped by cobwebs.
Disappointing , but certainly not catastrophic.Think the fears if lack of an extra big bodied midfielder were proven correct. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

Practice this week should focus entirely on forward play, kicking for goal etc. The lack of nous up there is forcing us to miss out on rotating JDG through the middle against the likes of Dangermouse. Again Stevic umpires another close loss for us. |
That effort on goal was very poor for an AFL player (Philips)
..should have known better and gone back and taken the shot.
I can see the boys know the game plan that want to click back into, they will just need a week or so to re-find it.
I feel like with the new guys back in the side (Elliott, Moore, Beams) other players have found themselves a tad out of sorts (De Gory, Stevenson, Howe) they will need time to gel. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE.

We won’t be beating Brisbane up there in similar humid weather.

I've never seen such a rusty and shaky game to open the season. It was a shocker.
The worst part was that we were let down by our leaders and stars in Pendles, Sidey and Beams. Even Treloar, who had plenty of the ball, never really impacted the game. I can forgive JDG as he's just returned from injury, but our list of poor performers also included players we'd normally expect more from, including Grundy, Stephenson and Thomas.
Unfortunately Cox has not carried on from the Prelim last year, but instead has reverted to his early form last season.
The only good thing to come out of the game was the form of Elliott and Moore. They were both excellent.
All we can do is hope like hell, that this game is the kick up the arse we need to get us firing on all cylinders again, because otherwise things could get ugly because the Cats are not a great side at all. |

Just a very very very very pisspoor lazy effort or non effort, sluggish, woeful, sloppy, against an average opponent whom were no better, but had the umps as their bum chums. Our skills were terrible, treloar was woeful, but he hat a ot of mates ,ony moore, Elliott, beams earned their pay tonight, we had so many crap players, de goey and Stephenson very poor. but, we have the tigers next week, so hopefully we will come out to redeem ourselves, even if we lose we must put in a huge effort, really have a red hot go, cos that was just so bad tonght worst season operner we have ever had, ever. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Oh, just stop it all of you heaping s*8t on our team!!!! Give them a f**king break!!!!
The weather didn't suit our fast ball movement game and we had a lesser lay off than Geelong, who are not slouches. |

I shall watch, I have a strong feeling Brisbane will knock them over. Brisbane are a very talented side. They will give us slot of problems I called that before the season even started. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

Mate take a few deep breaths - we don't need to win in March, we need to win in September. We have time. Brisbane are not Geelong - it will prove nothing - so you will still need to have patience. If WC thump Brisbane now and lose to us in September, I'll be very, very happy!

Toiled manfully. Just made more errors than the opposition did both with skills and decisions. I am dissappointed, would have loved the 4 points early on. Truck load of upside. _________________ kymbo |

Don't make excuses for the overpaid lazy, one-way running bludgers.
Geelong's disposal standard SHAT all over ours for four solid quarters. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |
