Would have been nice to win by 10-12 goals, but it can often turn out like it did after such a dominant last quarter. Really, it was only the atrocious goal kicking that prevented it. Port are a decent side, so to win by 39 is a great effort.
Pendles was just magnificent all night, what a leader he is. And Moore is easily the best CHB in the league.
Dont know what has happened to De Goey's goal kicking, hopefully its just a case of the yips and he's back to normal soon.
Looks like Adams will be out for a while. Its a shame the 2nds aren't playing this week.
Reid went OK, but I think Cox will take his place unless we go tall. Bucks said during the week that both Cox & Mihochek had gone past Reid, and I dont think tonight's effort will change that. I dont think we can keep using him as the 2nd ruckman on an ongoing basis. _________________ I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within. |

But tonight belonged to Kyron. Very proud of the whole club right now |
Absolutely!!!!
So many good players tonight who all contributed to a very impressive win. Pendles is in such a rich vein of form - it's wonderful to see. Really, I can't think of one player who didn't pull their weight - perhaps JT might be the only one in danger of losing his spot? I thought the much under-valued Levi Greenwood got better as the game went on. WHE was quiet by his lofty standards, but an extra game under his belt should help enormously.
What a forward line - options everywhere. Well done Ben Reid on a successful come back. Defence steady as a rock, Darcy the high flying star, but Jack Crisp , Tommy, Maynard and co are playing with great cohesion. Mid-field did their job and Brodie Grundy must have the most amazing stamina to ruck most of the game against two opposition ruck men.
Well done Pie boys!!! |

Reid provides more of a contest than Cox.
I reckon he’d be stiff to get dropped for Cox. _________________ - Side By Side - |

As Bucks said in his presser, it is a nice dilemma to have _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

What ever happened to the AFL's rabid away-strip fad?
Port's main color is teal. So when they play away against the Magpies, they wear black and white and grey, and no teal? In some of the middle-distance shots, it was difficult to tell the difference between players in a pack. |

A great win.
Just imagine if we put togetger 4 quarters of footy.
In the first quarter or I could think of was "The Machine"
a reference to our greatest ever side of the late 1920's.
I have been watching footy for decades and this side reminds me of 2010 and 2011 side.
I don't ever say it much but we can win the flag with this side.
And I am a pessimist. |

When we gave them an inch Port looked pretty good, so don't underestimate the win. _________________ JL |

The grey is horrific, just like the Carlton grey. |

Let's not underrate this game because the entire margin was achieved in the first. It was an excellent win against a team touted to be going as good as anyone.
When this team is given space through the middle and up forward, they are deadly (number 1 for marks inside 50). The opposition is quickly finding that you can't play offensive footy against us, we'll win the ball and cut them up. This seems to be the reason why we often have dominance early (haven't lost a first quarter). Teams then dial back their ambition and look to gain some traction. _________________ Well done boys! |

Port have been hot and cold all year. I still don't know how they managed to lose at home to Richmond. |

If - and it is a big if - Reid can play with that strength and mobility without getting soft-tissue niggles yet again, he will be in the first 5 players picked. On another night, he would have kicked 4.1 and we'd have been giving him votes. I didn't think he could play at that intensity for a whole game any longer - and perhaps he cannot, week-in, week-out - but if he can, he adds a whole different level of class into that team. |
