Dunn will be "drafted" in the pre supplement period in the new year.
He is training with the club and working/coaching with the AFLW players too.
It is strange that we passed in the rookie draft today though. I was very surprised to see we didnt have a crack at someone.
Maybe my math is off, I thought we had two picks. We only had one. |

Everyone having a breather. Collingwood with a little extra time to talk I guess.
We'll be hoping to see the Lions fall down the ladder next year to improve our second round selection. And obviously to see us rise...
Anyway here comes our pick.... |
Actually that was Richmond's Pick not Brisbane's _________________ I am Da Man |

Brandon Jack:
Lifting the draft age would help AFL players when the bubble bursts
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/lifting-the-draft-age-would-help-afl-players-when-the-bubble-bursts-20191128-p53f1g.html
"Not everyone has a fairytale career. In fact, almost a third of players won't play more than 10 games. It’s an uncomfortable reality very few players want to accept. The AFL and the AFLPA try and tell you it’s the case, you hear it at all the induction camps, but it feels like even allowing these thoughts to enter your mind means you’ll fail. At my induction day..., I remember thinking, “why are we talking about the end of my career? That’s ages away, it hasn’t even started yet.” I, like many, thought that accepting a plan B meant you didn’t believe in plan A enough. Plan Bs are for losers, and we are all winners right?"
...
This is why I like the idea of lifting the draft age, because I think it can help reduce this gap. ...
When the time comes, football will still be there, and it might be only a year or two later, but I guarantee they’ll be in a better place to deal with its pressures and appreciate how fortunate they are to get paid ridiculous amounts to play the game they love. Then, when they stop playing, be it after a long career or a handful of games, an adult world without football won't be completely foreign to them because they have already spent time in it." |

So just to confirm ( unless anyone knows otherwise ) it would appear after all pick swaps are done and dusted, that we enter the 2020 trade period with one selection in each round of the draft.
That’s a good result in that we can now easily manufacture the accumulation of points required to secure Reef McInnes without putting up our first round pick ( unless of course, McInnes has a growth spurt or a real spike in his footy development ) |

Like (R)Ed Richards (who was on course for rookie selection before his spike). |

^ Yes, there are many ways (contrary to Nickster claims last year that the club had to do one thing). |

Well if McInnes does either, he will be the number one pick.
He’s already a quality bottom age midfielder at 191cm.
He played in the same team as Rowell, Anderson and Bianco this year, so he didn’t get a lot of opportunity. He should dominate next season. |

The number one pick of the entire draft? Wow.
For the growth question, look at his relatives. How tall are his parents? |

That can be a guide but it's not reliable. I was taller than both my parents when I was still in primary school _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I was taking a little bit of license with the number one tag but he could be the big mover now that he will be a starter in the Chargers midfield in 2020.
He played key position a bit in 2019 and was ok but that’s not his natural position.
Recruiters use wrist measurements as their most accurate indication of growth potential. I don’t understand how the correlation works but it’s a staple in basic physical testing. |

That's interesting. I'll have to poke around the web for details.
The rough rule is: average of your parents' heights plus two inches. (Of course, as noted above, it can't apply to everyone.)

I'd say it's a very rough rule. Apart from wrist measurements you'd need to look at extended biological family. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Absolutely. There are no guarantees but it remains part of the program until something better or additional comes along. |
