Three more years: McGuire set on another term at Collingwood
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/three-more-years-mcguire-set-on-another-term-at-collingwood-20200210-p53zim.html
"Nominations for the Collingwood board close on Wednesday, with only two weeks before the club's annual general meeting. At this stage, no candidates besides McGuire and Korda have nominated, meaning they could be elected unopposed at the February 26 AGM...
Collingwood, unlike Hawthorn, Essendon and a number of other clubs, does not have term limits for board members. McGuire's board resisted a 2017 recommendation that there be term limits - a position that was recommended by governance expert Chris Thomas in his review of the board and governance.
...
Should McGuire serve his full term, as he intends, he would surpass Colless in longevity as a club president, but would still trail Collingwood's Harry Curtis, who was president for 27 years at the Magpies (1924-1950), and Jack Jennings' 26 years at Geelong (1945-1970)." |

Still no sign of the club adopting term limits as per the recommendations from the 2017 review. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Will be his last act, bring in term limits to ensure no one else ruins the club for as long as he did. But until he is ready to retire, there wont be any limits. |

So if we had term limits then we'd have no President? Or is it just no one dares to go up against Eddie? |

How Eddie McGuire and Amazon could shake up the AFL on TV
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/how-eddie-mcguire-and-amazon-could-shake-up-the-afl-on-tv-20200224-p543v4.html
"The AFL's television landscape is set for a shake-up after global streaming giant Amazon agreed to a $10 million deal with Collingwood president Eddie McGuire’s media company.
...
Collingwood and Sydney are among the clubs approached to feature in the series, but the project hit an early snag when the football department of McGuire's own club, the Magpies, indicated they were not keen on taking part." |

Magpies say no to president Eddie's pitch
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/magpies-say-no-to-president-eddie-s-pitch-20200224-p543wl.html
"McGuire and club chief Mark Anderson approached the football department about the $10 million project but the idea was not well received, particularly after it was canvassed by the players.
The football department felt that inviting cameras into its inner sanctum was unnecessary, particularly after they created and released their own film last year, Side by Side.
McGuire ... has been working feverishly behind the scenes to get the documentary series off the ground.
The veteran broadcaster continues to juggle multiple roles in the media, calling matches on Fox Footy and being contracted to Channel Nine ... as a host.
But despite essentially brokering the deal, he was unable to convince his own club to be the trailblazer of the series.
Industry sources said the idea was put to all players and football department staff by senior coach Nathan Buckley and football boss Geoff Walsh." |

^ So pleasing to see the players, coaches and football staff basically telling Eddie to f**k off out of their domain. Seems he doesn't own the club after all. |
