From the club website.
Footy's back!
Quote: | The 2020 AFL Premiership Season will resume on June 11.
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan confirmed the date on Friday afternoon when detailing the 'return to play' plan that includes a resumption of training next week.
Clubs will begin non-contact training from Monday May 18 before a full-scale return to contact training, with two sessions a week, is introduced from May 25.
After initial swabs this week, players and officials will be tested for COVD-19 at least 24 hours before each session in order to have results returned before beginning the sessions.
A fixture – most likely for the opening four weeks of matches – will be released inside the next seven days.
The first match back on June 11 will mark 81 days since the season was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Four clubs – West Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide and Port Adelaide – will soon base themselves at two golf course resorts on the Gold Coast, and then play a series of matches against each other and the Suns and Lions.
Due to SA regulations that enforce no contact training until June 8, the Crows and Power will need to move to the Gold Coast ahead of May 25 to conduct full training.
The WA-based clubs have been granted an exemption for contact training from May 25 and will depart for the Gold Coast closer to matches resuming. |

Did Gill happen to mention what the plan will be if one or more of the players/support staff catches the virus once the season resumes? Would it be a case of that player's team has to be tested and isolate for 2 weeks, thus putting the comp on hold while that happens?
That would soon become unworkable I reckon.
Maybe just the player/support/coaching person would have to be isolated, but the rest of the team would be unaffected? After all, all players/coaches are going to be tested before every game and every training session.
Perhaps I've answered my own question. _________________ Collingwood and cricket umpiring - my life is black and white. |

Eddie is lobbying hard to the mcc mcg to have a bronze statue around somewhere mcg and just outside the ponsford stand gate as far as I know Collingwood are not represented in any statue that is at the mcg. It’s a statue of jock McHale famous Collingwood coach |

This lock-down period has delivered more open dialogue about the state of the game than at any other time in my lifetime and in many areas it's long overdue.
It has opened up public discourse as to how we manage the legacy of the game going forward to ensure its long term viability.
So, a few scratch thoughts ~ if it was possible to some way manage the TV rights, ground commitments etc, I'd like to see a more balanced competition in terms of travel and game schedule.
At a minimum it'd finally quell the bickering Interstate re COLA, travel fatigue etc and the huge supporter bases outside of Victoria to see teams that they support more regulalry.
If we are to take a step outside of the Victorian bubble and move to gradually make the competition truly equitable, well we're going to see more games interstate.
Will we play each side twice? Maybe not straight away but change is in the winds.
Might we see Collingwood move the squad to SE Queensland to play the Lion and Suns over consecutive weekends. Port and the Crows in a similar manner and so on.
Might we see a lesser game e.g. Collingwood / North Melbourne scheduled in Brisbane or Adelaide.
The benefit of course over the next 12 months and beyond would be give domestic tourism a welcome boost.
Line the QLD matches up over Vic school holidays. Brisbane and the Gold Coast are ideal destinations for families.
South Australia - with a Adelaide Oval I regard as second only to a packed MCG, it's a cracking w/e. Great golf courses, a couple of half decent wineries.
Sydney - blockbuster matches to line up with ANZAC Day.
WA - line up Queens Birthday / Big Freeze.
Another benefit might see the Interstate rivalry spike in order to lay the platform for a midseason break of say 4 weeks with State of Orgin centerpiece series played over that time.
It'd give the majority of players a good break and brings back another opportunity for each State to host games.
Look, pick holes through this, its by no means a thesis, but to promote some open dialogue outside a repetition of Best22 posts, trade speculation and coach movements. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

There’s a chance Collingwood could play an away match in Tasmania this season in the next block of rounds to be released after round 3 most likely v North Melbourne at Launceston or Hobart probably Hobart as hawthorn generally play at Launceston.
Also am I correct our club doctor has had to stand down due to unethical work practices it’s a temporary stand down. |

You need to practice your critical reading skills, 90 old mate.
The reports clearly say, "A sports doctor who worked for several AFL clubs including Collingwood", so "our club doctor" is clearly an incorrect statement. |
