Mason has only had 4 games this year.
Most or if not all were in the wet or the pouring rain.
He has come off a disturbing injury last year.
Give him the next 5 matches and see how he goes and hopefully more drier conditions
As a comparison to other forward line players in 2020
Mason 4 goals average 1 goal per game
Thomas 7 games average 0.1 goal per game...great stat that
Checkers 12 games average 1.2 goals per game.
WHE averaging 0.9 goals per game
Darcy Cameron averaging 0.7 goals per game
Jamie elliott averaging 0.6 goals a game
Callum Brown averaging 0.5 goals per game.
JDG averaging 1.2 goals per game
These stats highlight 2 things.
1. Our forward line is truly crap.
2. Mason is not going too bad in this department and given the others are even worse including Cameron. |

Pretty horrible stats for the entire Forward line, with Mason being far from teh worst. But I also remember that Mason tapped a few balls on to advantage in a couple of games, which don't get included in his stats. I agree: there is no reason, based on this analysis to judge that he is worse than any of our other forwards. He definitely needs to play again, and I think he will in our next game.

Another Mason attribute that stands out to me is he stands on the mark at every set shot. Last week the deeds first set shot from circa 45 metres had Taylor Adams on the mark.
I could kick over Taylor and I am 62, but kicking over Mason makes them over kick more.
I am sorry for Cameron but his big game was in the second half against the poorest side we have seen since Fitzroy in the 1960's or Melbourne in 1981.
Whilst Mason is not the Sav, Travis or Peter McKenna we go out of our way to push out forwards. We sent the Taz to Freo _________________ Bucks you just reckon he can still cut it in the middle |

The best stat is Mihocek 2.5 goals a game with Cox, 0.5 goals a game without Cox |

What a great stat.
You can't have checkers being first or second tall in the forward line.
3rd tall and he is off and running.
Even if mason doesn't take a mark it is usually knocked down and he usually takes at least 2 defenders. |

Neither Cox or Cameron are much chop. At least Cameron is a few years younger and is useful as a back up ruckman. Sadly, unless Cox is able to turn around his form significantly, by at least clunking half a dozen marks each week, then he should be traded/de-listed at year's end.
We desperately need a young up and coming power forward. |

I like Cameron, I do believe Cox deserves another chance but I like Cameron more. He is 4 years younger and can take a good strong mark, Cox can rarely, although Cox is more dangerous because of his height. Give Cox another go and make a choice on one or the other, not both! _________________ "That was out-of-bounds" |

Sadly, Mihocek's finals stats, probably all with Cox, are awful. |

Actually Checkers in 2018 as with Coxy was fine.
In 2019 Coxy had big wittsies finger into his eye about round 13 and did not play again in 2019.
The 2019 preliminary final where we lost by under a goal we only had Checkers
Coxy was out with his Eye issues and DeGoey was not playing either.
I think Reid played and kicked one
So I am not sure response is all that accurate _________________ Bucks you just reckon he can still cut it in the middle |

Bucks did mention Lynch in his presser. If he gets a game before Cox then that’s his papers stamped. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Mathew Taberner is currently equal third on goal kicking ladder.
Drafted in 2013 via the rookie draft. Now played 81 games and is age 27.
Do you reckon anyone thought he could play after his first few years at Freo ?
Obviously not because they went out and recruited McCarthy and Hogan.
Darcy Cameron ( just turned 25 ) may yet be a bust but anyone who reckons they can write him off after a handful of games is either Nostradamus or delusional.
Most KPFs who forge out a decent career are either top 10 picks as junior prodigies and play early in their career or late speculative picks who take a few years to deliver ( Brown, Walker, Taberner )
In my humble opinion, the smart thing to do in the 2020 draft is to identify the next most likely KPF and work our way into a position where we can secure that player before anyone other club would call his name ( and if that means missing out on McInnes, so be it ) Given that we will have likely had our lowest finish on the ladder for a while, this is even more reason to pull the trigger on a young KPF in this draft.
Other option would be to pursue Brown by free agency providing he’s focussed on footy once again ( all subject to cap restrictions of course )
Another option is for club to also consider increasing the number of “ speculative talls “ on the list by only selecting next best talls available from the third round onwards and also in the rookie draft.
We are one of the few clubs who currently don’t have a competent KPF in our forward line. The pressure game has lifted and not having anyone who can take a contested is hurting us badly.
One way or the other, we need to find one or two .... and very quickly. |

A poor Cox game is better than a bad one from Cameron.
You can't rely on either to be consistently good.
