Cox was leading further up the ground too, which created scoring opportunities and also fixed our previously poor forward entries a bit. He attacked as much as he sat in the goal square, that’s what we need as our forwards have been so static and lethargic in recent months.

He is capable of kicking 60-70 goals in a season, whereas Cox can play some decent football from time to time, anyway that's what he's shown till now.
What's wrong with JDG, Cox & Cameron?
Throw in Hoskin, Mihocek & Stevo & you never know. |
😂😂😂😂you must be on drugs, darcy Cameron
60-70 goals? Hawkins can’t even do that regular
Or keenedy or cameron.
Cameron is a dud

Yeah, it's confusing, so FYI...
Cameron is senior coach of GWS.
Cox is assistant coach at Sydney.

^ Haha! Yep, for sure!
Love keeping Mason in the forward 50, while Grundy and Cameron go to work rotating the ruck.

Cameron was horses for courses. Needed to negate their rucks and Brody isn't 100%. Hasn't been all year. Not sure if we need two against Geelong who dont ewven have one quality ruck.
Cox and Cameron arent alternatives.
Cox has cemented his spot. he straightens us up and if he is clunking, he is a nightmare for opposing teams.
Cameron is an able back up ruckman. The question as to whether he plays has nothing to do with Cox, and more to do with need.
I will note that the Gabba gets pretty slippery at night so i wouldn't be surprised to see Cameron shelved for another inside mid.

Post subject: Darcy Cameron nail in the coffin for Cox | |
|
Has the emergence of Darcy Cameron whose finally put together a month of good footy spells the end of Cox's career at the Pies. You get the feeling it has. As the big American languishes in the Reserves kicking his cliche' 1.2 goals a game and getting 11 awkward possessions it sees Cameron has locked himself into a full time regular gig.
Cameron on the surface is:
* a better mark
* more prolific goal scorer
* provides greater versatility and ability in both Ruck and Forward
* And at 25 years old is yet to peak
* better value for money
Credit to Cox, he has won the Pies two magnificent finals matches through sheer intimidation and presence but the disparity between "good and evil" so to speak is too far. So apparently with Cox being in the last year/trigger clause of a $550,000. Yes Nicksters, $550,000 salary, it might be smart to cut our losses, try haggle a pick 40 out of an unsuspecting rival club or player swap and free up salary cap space for future inclusions.
You'd also think our version of Daniel Currie and Keegan Brooksby (Max Lynch) whose pushing for life membership after only 1 senior game is sufficient and cheap backup to both Grundy and Cameron. Cox seems almost superfluous.
Thoughts?

If one of the other 17 clubs are stupid enough to come knocking, I’d trade him in a heartbeat!
But alas, none of the other clubs will do so.

Big men seem to have an extra visa clause in their passport for 2nd, 3rd and even 4th chances. Proof?
* Shaun McKernan: 3rd club this year
* Majak Daw: 2nd club this year
* Billy Frampton: 2nd club
* Ben Hudson X 4
* Stefan Martin: 35 years old and 3rd club this year
* Marc Pittonet: 2nd club
* Andrew Phillips: 3 clubs now
* Rhys Stanley: 2 clubs
* J Jenkins: 3rd club now
* Jonathan Ceglar: 3rd club now
* Jonathan Giles: 4 clubs
* Ben McEvoy: 2 clubs
* Braydon Preuss: 3 clubs
* Shane Mumford: 3 clubs
* Tom Campbell: 2 clubs
* Scott Lycett: 2 clubs
* Toby Nankervis: 2 clubs
* Jarred Witts: 2 clubs
* Paddy Ryder: 3 clubs
* Tom Hickey: 4 clubs
Precedent perhaps?

I reckon he would get picked up by a Club who is challenging, just to see what they could do with him.
He plays well in big games, and no one knows how well he would go with:
- a couple other big capable forwards with him, so he is one on one more often
- a great crumber (Kosi?) at his feet
- consistently getting the right delivery
Dont reckon he would get 550 grand though; surely that can't be right? That's obscene for a player of his experience and caliber

^ Have a similar opinion.
Why wouldn't another club take a punt on him if the price was right?
He's as much a victim of of our defensive, static gameplay as he is of his own limitations.
Get the ball forward quickly, put a couple of competent crumbers at his feet, and who knows what might happen.
And, of course, Gold Coast is lovely and warm, just like Texas.

this will always be a question of opinion
for mine, Cameron is clearly no key forward, and Cox is much more dangerous.
There will be lots of 'good' clubs after Cox, knowing how dangerous he could be in a good side, with the ball coming down fast in a threatening manner.
If we are going to build our future side with Darcy Cameron as our full forward, then God help us.

Cox can ruck, too, and he takes at least two defenders, cos of his height. He is a very accurate goal kicker too , he rarely misses. very rarely. My money is still on Cox, im not yet sold on Cameron. Hasnt Mason been injured, anyway ??
