Meanwhile, Thiem and Ruud have both been struggling to hold serve in the first set of their match. There have been 3 breaks of serve and many break points.
But Thiem saves his service game to take a 5-3 lead.
Thiem has been ultra-consistent at the French the past 4 years. |

Thiem won that match comfortably. It was reportedly the first match featuring seeds.

Meanwhile, this morning, with Djokovic leading his match 2 sets to love and 4-1, the odds on offer for his opponent were a piddling $100.
They're not very generous, these bookies. Unless he broke a leg or hit an umpire, it's not easy to see how Djokovic could lose from there. |

He plays Pedro Martinez tonight. |
Korda won that match and plays Rafa tonight. |

Petr Korda should just pump out kids.

Simona Halep was bundled out in straight sets, barely winning any games, by a Polish teen.
It always feels a lot more volatile and unpredictable on the women's side. |

Zverev crashed out to rising teen Sinner, who playes Rafa next.
It was then revealed that he played with fever and breathing difficulties. COVID-19??
Sinner was right when he said they weren't all that close to each other, but if he's infected and it goes through the men's draw, the tournament will become a farce. |

Thiem survived an epic five-setter against Frenchman Gaston but could not back up, losing a 5-hour marathon against Schwartzman, who will play the winner of Nadal vs. Sinner in the SF. |

Sinner has broken Rafa and is serving for the first set.
Rafa looks like he's struggling. |

Rafa breaks back to take it to a tiebreak.
They've been playing for over an hour now.
It's a dogfight. |

Rafa takes the tiebreak and first set after 72 minutes.
That'll be a relief for him. He looked a lot more in control in the tiebreak than in the three or four games before.
-----------------------------------------
Wow... Sinner is being checked out at the break. Is he injured? It's the right leg. Rafa is off the court at the same time.
Rafa returns and puts on a white tracksuit top. There are now two men helping Sinner. One is rubbing somewhere. Right adductor maybe.
Rafa jogs on the spot and practices a few air strokes. It looks a bit windy out there. It is late at night.
Play resumes. |

Sinner breaks in the second set. He's still causing Rafa a lot of problems. |
