Lumumba said the following in his farewell speech at the 2014 B&F.
"But the thing that I hold greatest to my heart are my values, which are also congruent with the values of the Collingwood Football Club. The number one most important value this football club has is community."

Lumumba has said over and over (a la Piesnchess groundhog day posts) that he wasn't taken seriously by the club when he claimed he'd been racially discriminated. Of course he has lost all faith & trust in CFC, and personally, it's disgraceful.
Please folks, don't turn on him. It just ends up proving the report is spot on.
All we have to do is accept what he is saying...the whole club...right down to us. To listen with compassion and understanding.
But at the moment, things are looking very dodgy with a majority of the attitudes on here. _________________ I'm not the pheasant plucker I'm the pheasant plucker's son, and I'll be plucking pheasants til the pheasant plucker comes! "Try saying that with a mouthful of peanuts!!" Lou Richards |

i heard him on radio, the sheer arrogance of him was beyond belief, has no intention of ever relenting, no matter what we do, implied our whole Board are racists and eddies resignation was all a stunt., Did he not give himself that racist nickname, himself ? He will never be satisfied, until the club implodes and is dissolved, and ends, why he cares now he resides in L A is beyond me. My mate here Lazza is a person of colour, has experienced racism, ask him what he now thinks of H, that might be an idea. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

This is a great post uncanny.
All of it resonates with me, but in reply to the bolded part, this video is doing the rounds at the moment:

Now this was after the big blow up with Bucks and the Goodes fiasco from Eddie.. What happened to Heritier that he changed from this fairly reconciliatory approach to the militant figure bent on revenge??
I think it was Piesnchess who suggested many pages back it could be because he is now living in LA and has been influenced by the BLM movement in the US. Or is it because he just wants notoriety and to fit in with the community he has chosen? Or is it because he wants $ - both questions you ask above. I am simply can't work him out! I guess time will tell. |
Thanks Pyrenees Pie. Heritier's words in this speech and other speeches just don't seem to align with his words today.
Reinforcing this inconsistency is the news that has come out in recent days about his player profile that was made up when Heater was a team mate. Heritier chose at the time to not only list that nickname that he objects to today as racist but says this is the animal he would be if he had the choice.
Are we meant to believe what he says now or what he said then? _________________ woodsmen rule |

Simple.
Don't believe anything he has ever said at any time. |

His insistence that he only accepted it to “fit in” would have to be one of the biggest cop outs one could imagine.

It’s theoretically possible to accept that argument. Until you take into account the Footy Record player profile. That alone is enough to challenge the veracity of his statements. He had the opportunity not to mention that nickname, but he volunteered it when he did not need to do so. He supported it by naming the animal that he would like to be. That was in circumstances where he knew that he was publishing the information at a Carlton v Collingwood game. In the court of public opinion that is enough to sink him. Add to that the comments made by Simon Buckley.
If you believe what H is saying I have some shares in a bridge that I would like to sell to you. |

If he really wanted to the club to do better he would have joined the fight. Instead he’s trying to burn the house down. No respect for him. None. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Certainly the accusations are serious, but that doesn't require us to put the accuser on a pedestal and not allow proper scrutiny. We have no obligation to 'accept what he is saying' without any thought.
His behaviour has been, at the very least, odd and inconsistent, that's why so many eyebrows are raised. It seems to me that his current attitude/anger is, at least partly, fuelled by an agenda that is much, much larger than Collingwood.
It's certainly possible to be against racism and still have questions about Lumumba's accounts and motivations. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. |
