The silence is deafening and I suspect Cameron will nominate Geelong whenever their season ends.
It's rather annoying Geelong have been linked to all of Cameron, Crouch and Sinclair.
Out of interest this is the trade / free agency player comparison for the two sides since 2015.
2015.
Geelong in:Dangerfield, Henderson, S.Selwood, Smith
Geelong out:Simpson, Walker, Jansen, Johnson
Collingwood in:Howe, Treloar, Aish
Collingwood out:Seedsman, Kennedy, Freeman
2016.
Geelong in:Black
Geelong out:Kersten, Smedts, Caddy, Vardy
Collingwood in:Hoskin-Elliott, Dunn, Wells, Mayne
Collingwood out:Witts, Cloke, Frost, Williams, Brown
2017.
Geelong in:Ablett
Geelong out:Lang, Motlop
Collingwood in:Murray
Collingwood out:Keeffe
2018.
Geelong in:Dalhaus, Kreuger, Rohan
Geelong out:Murdoch, Menzel, McCarthy, Horlin-Smith, Thurlow
Collingwood in:Roughead, Beams
Collingwood out:Fasolo
2019.
Geelong in:Steven, Jenkins
Geelong out:Kelly, Smith, Buzza, Abbott
Collingwood in:Noble, Cameron
Collingwood out:Aish
Geelong total in: 11
Geelong total out: 19
Collingwood total in: 12
Collingwood total out: 11
While it's a quick and simplistic conclusion in looking at the total out figure for both clubs one could make the assumption we've held on to and remained to patient with to many players who've soaked up more cap space collectively than young draftees in their first few seasons would have and it's one of the reasons behind our cap squeeze.
Of course over paying for the likes of Beams, Wells and Mayne haven't helped either over this period.
Thankfully with Scharenberg and Broomhead being delisted, Reid, Varcoe and Dunn retiring, players like Aish and now Phillips potentially up for trade we're starting to remove players constantly sidelined by injury, well past their best or role players we can afford to lose in order to afford upgrades. _________________ He's mad. Two totally different types - gees wouldn’t it have been handy right now to have had them playing alongside each other in black and white. Cameron’s exactly the kind of player we needed - mobile, competitive beast, CHF with a bit of dark side who can kick a bag or more when on. Get someone like him (Himmelberg from Adelaide wouldn’t be too bad) and fill in some grunt in the middle through FA or trade and we can start another sustained appearance in Finals in the future.....and who knows from there. _________________ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men... |
