That's a big step forward for Medvedev. His game fell apart at the Oz Open.
Djokovic was not playing well here (kept on losing first sets), but until he lost you couldn't be sure he would. |

Djokovic: “But [it] was also emotionally very demanding period for me in the last five, six months. Slams and Olympics and playing at home in Belgrade. Everything was coming together for me here and kind of accumulating all the emotions that I’ve been through.”
Hmm...
No one forced him to play in Belgrade... And Olympics? He pulled out of the mixed doubles bronze match... If I were on Team Djokovic, I'd be a bit embarrassed about that. |

Disappointed Nole fell short, but Medvedev was outstanding.
Deserves a slam after missing out two years back at the UO against Nadal, and losing the AO earlier this year. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Strange victory celebration from Medvedev. "Falling asleep"?
But he's good at speeches (win or lose) that win over listeners. |

The "dead fish" celebration
Comes from the FIFA Playstation game. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Rafa and Roger are out injured. Thiem does not seem to be listed. Is he injured too?

I must have forgotten Thiem's wrist injury, announced in August...
Wonder if he'll be back in time for the Oz Open. |
