Just a bit of fun. All players from pre-1996, meaning guys like Burns, Clement, Swan, and Pendlebury cannot be nominated.
Collingwood’s Team of the Century:
B: Harold Rumney, Jack Regan, Syd Coventry Snr (c)
HB: Billy Picken, Albert Collier, Nathan Buckley
C: Thorold Merrett, Bob Rose, Darren Millane
HF: Des Fothergill, Murray Weideman, Dick Lee
F: Phonse Kyne, Gordon Coventry, Peter Daicos
Foll: Len Thompson, Des Tuddenham, Harry Collier
Int: Tony Shaw, Wayne Richardson, Marcus Whelan, Gavin Brown
Coach: Jock McHale _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Good lord, how on earth did McKenna and Greening get left out? No slight on Shaw, Millane or Brown, but I feel like some recency bias must have been involved in their inclusion ahead of champions like that. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Edit: it only let me put in 10 selections... I has 18 originally. (Choco, Wright, Gabbo, Sav, McGuanne, David Cloke). Oh well. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

By far the best Collingwood player I have ever seen (for just a handful of games) was John Greening. _________________ I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️ |

McKenna's omission is one of the most ridiculous decisions I've ever seen.
How does the 2nd highest goal kicker in the club's history with 838 goals miss out? _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

^ I loved McKenna but I guess he was left out because they thought (probably correctly) he could only play FF. They gave that position to Coventry, the highest goal kicker in the club's history.
Mind you they had two different styles apparently. Coventry was a very strong overhead mark. McKenna was weak overhead but was brilliant on a lead and a deadly accurate kick for goal. Maybe they could have played side by side!
But then who would you drop from the forward pocket? Daicos? Kyne (the second ruckman)?
From Wikipedia:
Coventry was the first player to play 300 VFL games, the first to kick 100 goals in a VFL season, the only player ever to head the league's goal-kicking list in five consecutive seasons, and the first player to kick 1000 VFL goals, with his career total of 1299 VFL goals serving as a VFL/AFL competition record for over 60 seasons.
They forgot to mention he shares the record for the most goals kicked in a grand final. _________________ Side by side. |

I voted for Moore as the Sub as there's more than enough small players in the side for coverage whereas Moore could play Ruck or KP at either end if needed. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Completely agree. Would have been an AFL legend., not just a hall of famer. _________________ Jatsad - That is all |
