i believe we revolve around the sun
God has always been..its strange..but thats the way it is, theres no other possible explaination..nothing physical could have possibly been around for an infinite amount of years...but in a spiritual realm that we cant comprehend, anything is possible. |

michael, I'm of the belief that there is logic behind something the majority of the time. However, at this stage, the human mind simply cannot comprehend the possibilities of what might of occured, nor do we have the capacity to understand why certain things happen.
The thing is, what makes one religion correct, and what makes another wrong. Why is there so many religions? Are they all based on fact, or heresay, or are they simply made up.
Just because we cannot comprehend how the universe could have existed infinite amount of time, does not mean God created it. Personally, I don't care what believe in, I reckon it's all about personal choice, and if someone wants to believe in something, good on them. |

Who says the Universe has existed for an infinite amount of time? Neither science or the Bible says that. All life as we know it has both a beginning and an end, but we have to realise that some things, such as God, may not have had a beginning or an end, they have just always been.
I don't know a great deal about other religions, however I know many of them are similar in their teachings to the Bible. Look at Buddhism for example. The foundations of which are largely focussed on compassion and loving kindness. Qualities such as these fit well within the teachings of the Bible, and people who practice those religions may be living according to God's wishes. |

I didn't mean it has existed for an infinite amount of time, I am simply stating that we cannot comprehend that is could have. |

Have you forgotten the first and second world wars Assassin? Estimated 65 millions deaths, and was that a result of religion? How about the slave trade or the slaughter of native Americans? Estimated 20 millions deaths each there. Do you need more proof?
Yes religion has been a source of much conflict but to say it is the biggest source is simply untrue. |

1.5 - 2 million lives were estimated to have been lost in the Crusades. These are all very rough estimates, but you can see the Crusades are small compared to some of the other attrocities. |

Maybe so, but in the name of religion nonetheless.
I'm sure we could come up with many other examples, but not right now, I'm too tired...maybe tomorrow, if I remember. |

I think Islamic extremists use religion to justify their actions, which mainly come from a bigoted hate towards all Western culture. It's also a means of motivating and inspiring Muslims to help spread their idealistic view of the world.
It's not a new idea, armies have been using religion for a long time as a means of motivating the grunts who would not otherwise be risking their lives to fight for a small piece of land, or whatever it may be.
I don't think you can say religion was the cause of S11. Maybe in the name of religion, but I think thats different, especially when the extremists are the minority of all Muslims and they manipulate their interpretation of the Koran to serve their own desires. |

The main diferance between biblical christianity and all most of the other mainline religions is christianity is the the only one who steadfastly claims to be the only way to heaven whereas all the others will say theirs is the best but it is possible to make it other ways. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |
