Very much a bit of a two man team, Hogan and Toby, hold them and they can be beaten. Toby is a team barometer, if he has a shit game, they lose invariably. They dont bat very deep, really.

If Howe misses then WHE replaces him in defence.
Like some others I have debated whether Johnson even makes the 23 this week but if Howe misses he comes into the 22 to maintain our level of marking presence across the ground.
Macrae takes his place as the 23rd man.

I couldn't disagree more, GWS have a very very good midfield Green, Coniglio (the rabbit) Whitfeild, Kelly.... No Callaghan is a big out for them...
But wow, two man team? they pushed us to within a point in a Prelim.
I have GWS as faves going into this....given i think we will be rusty coming off a shorter pre-season.

Maybe , but feel we do match them in the centre well, granted they have good players but if Toby has a poor match, they do fall away a bit, he is one hell of a player.

Thankfully GWS will be missing 3 from their Preliminary final side also as an injury list that includes your key forward, a quasi key defender and a 3rd tall defender would generally be of concern for most teams heading into the first game of the season.

My god, the lameness of that spiel is unparalleled.

Nailed it. GWS are a lot of things, but a two-man team is not something I would describe them as. I wouldn't even have Hogan in their top half dozen players.

Ill go with this line up v GWS:
FB:Crisp Moore Noble
CB: Maynard Frampton IQ
C: Josh D Pendles Nick D
CF: Hill Checkers McCreery
FF: Shultz Cox Lipinski
R: Cameron JDG Mitchell
INT: Side Dean Marcov WHE
SUB: McRae
Should be a tight tussel and hard fought out.
Be tight from the get go.
But alot of people are tipping a close GWS win but Ill go for the Pies.
not too sure on how many premiers lose their first game in the next season.
So ill go with the trend of that.
I am tipping a hard and tough tight 7 point Collingwood win.
We need to be switched on right from the first bounce.

Starting to get excited. BIG test for us in the first game of the year.
As premiers we were late to start the pre-season and then we are first to play in the new year. Not the best preparation timetable.
I am hoping we sneak a win but I reckon this will be tough.

Remember, we're only one week behind GWS in terms of preparation - excluding the effects of Premiership celebrations!
We need to play with the same verocity we brought to the table last time we played them in the Prelim. Howe and McStay are big 'outs' for us, along with Murphy, but Schultz is a big 'in'. Pies by 8 pts.
