Sky isn't falling yet, I bit rinse and repeat from last week...start well enough then fell right off the pace by the end of the first quater and never really got back.
Staying fit is the key. Thus far so good.
Welcome to being premiers Collingwood....each week we have a giant target on our backs as "the team to beat".
6 days and we go again. We should (i hope) be able to run out games a little better.
My only worry, and I keeping thinking to Geelong last year..as both sides are the same age bracket....lf you push too hard for the older players to get up to speed they can breakdown. Hence why our team age is a big worry....and hence why I keep saying we need to start to sideline some of these older players as the season goes on. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

We will probably make the Saints look like a top 4 team as well. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

This year's Grand Finalists on form and looking at their lists. An all Sydney affair in 2024. Won't the AFL love that. |

No reigning premiership side has been able to go back to back after being 0-2, so we would have to defy history at this point.
Melbourne [1900] = 1901 (5th)
Carlton [1908] = 1909 (2nd)
Geelong [1937] = 1938 (3rd)
Melbourne [1941] = 1942 (8th)
Melbourne [1948] = 1949 (5th)
Collingwood [1958] = 1959 (4th)
Richmond [1969] = 1970 (6th)
North Melbourne [1975] = 1976 (2nd)
Hawthorn [1976] = 1977 (3rd)
Hawthorn [1978] = 1979 (7th)
North Melbourne [1999] = 2000 (4th)
Sydney [2005] = 2006 (2nd)
Hawthorn [2008] = 2009 (9th)
Geelong [2022] = 2023 (12th)
Collingwood [2023] = 2024 (?)
7 of those 14 teams qualified for the Finals.
6 of those teams played in a Prelim final.
3 of those teams played off in a Grand Final. All of them were defeated. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

What does history say about reigning premiership sides that start the season 0-3.
Melbourne [1941] = 1942 (8th)
Collingwood [1958] = 1959 (4th)
North Melbourne [1975] = 1976 (2nd)
Geelong [2022] = 2023 (12th)
Collingwood [2023] = 2024 (?)
2 of those 4 teams qualified for the Finals.
1 of those teams played in a Prelim final.
1 of those teams played off in a Grand Final. They were defeated. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Trying to take some good points from the loss:
- We played better over four quaters then we did in week 0 or 1.
- Healthy list by and large.
- Well what do you know Fly...play Reef and Fin and they both looked good. Please give Fin a starting 22 game.
To be honest I think our top four chances are shot at this point. Can't drop too many and hope to make it.
Anyway, we load up and go again next weekend! _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |
