Absolutely – just tragic and terrifying that stuff like this can happen. Police saying they don't think it's terrorism-related but I guess we'll likely learn about motivations in the coming days. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I guess we should thank small mercies that a mentally Ill bloke commits these attacks with a kitchen knife rather than an AR15.
5 of the 6 dead are women, apparently, not sure if anything can be read into that. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Of course it can. He wasn’t a small man in stature but clearly a small man inside, he took on the defenceless, at least 2 were tourists.
And yes, thankgod it wasn’t a gun. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

The continual cuts to mental health services, by successive governments over the past 40 years... what could possibly go wrong.
New year’s mental health cuts defy years of expert advice
The Albanese government will slash access to psychological treatment for Australians under the Medicare Better Access program next week – under the guise of making mental health care “more accessible”. It claims Australians accessing more than 10 sessions have been somehow making it harder for those from low socio-economic backgrounds or regional and remote areas to get the help they need.

But in the end, the disappointing slippery dip of Australia’s mental health reform journey is revealed in the graph below, which shows mental health’s share of the total government spending on health care at 6.78%, the lowest it has been since 1992, the year Australia’s National Mental Health Strategy began.

It's great to see the media name a person who wasn't the assailant and then claim human error. It's very sad and I am now starting a week of not watching or listening to mainstream media. They are in their glee, they love this crap. |

Two things. Firstly I have heard so many times about people wanting to ban guns in the USA because someone with a gun can kill more people than people an arsehole with a knife. Obviously this is correct although a total of 6 or possibly more victims is still a significant amount of people. I feel so sad for the victims and families.
Secondly older Collingwood fans will always remember Kerry Good who kicked a goal well after the siren to win a night series grand final for North in 1977. Tragically one of the victims was his young daughter 🥲 _________________ I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas.
