Post subject: NEW POPE ELECTED | |
|
GERMAN Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the strict defender of Catholic orthodoxy for the past 23 years, was elected Pope overnight despite a widespread assumption he was too old and divisive to win election.

Common knowledge Hal,
German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was a member of the Hitler Youth leading up to WW2, it was compulsory for all German Youth and he has discussed his membership openly. |

They reported on the radio today that he had claims of sexual assault leveled against him back in 1958, then his own brother comes out and says he is to old to be the pope and that it will be the death of him. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

Amen to that Tess! If you can be forgiven for anything surely you can be forgiven for wearing a condom. _________________ Genesis 1:1 |

Well if contraception is a sin then it should be avoided, but out of all the 613 commandments of the Mosaic code there is not one passage where it is forbidden. It is fornication and adultery that God hates, contraception is fine for married couples. If the Catholic Church had maintained biblically sound principles then AIDS may never have become such a problem in Africa. AIDS is just God's wrath against those who wilfully transgress His law. |

Anyhoo people - how long do we give this pope to live? The entire short-list looked as old as Port Power's list!!
These funerals could become an annual event?

To blame the late pope for the aids epidemic is drawing a bit of a long bow. Plenty of other factors contributed, and still contribute, to the problem. Not saying his 'teachings' regarding contraception didnt help.
Heard an interesting report form a South African reporter who lives in the townships discussing this problem during the week. She was of the opinion that government inactivity, poor education and the males cultural refusal to wear condoms were more important problems to overcome than any church teaching. Then again, she only lives with and researchs the problem, so she wouldn't really have much idea then. |

Not to mention that most in those areas are actually Muslims so the teachings of the Catholic church would hold absolutely NO bearing on whether or not they use condoms. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |
