I received this via an email today. Annouced on June 12th last week.
Not sure about the $42m quoted. As per below from HBCC website there has been significant money coming from sevral sources, but nothing near $42m.
Cheers
Shane
Quote: | Upgrade for Williamstown Cricket Ground pavilion
Hobsons Bay Council is to spend $42m on redevelopment of the Williamstown Cricket ground pavilion.
The facilities at the pavilion will be upgraded to enable VFL matches to continue to be played at the ground. The Williamstown Football Club was formed in 1864 and has played at the ground since 1888. |

Quote: | Williamstown Cricket Ground Pavilion Redevelopment Printer Friendly
Hobsons Bay City Council has committed $2 million to the redevelopment of the Williamstown Cricket Ground pavilion.
This follows the state government’s allocation of $3 million to the redevelopment in its 2008/2009 budget as part of an overall $10 million allocation to upgrade facilities in the 150th year of VFL/AFL football in Victoria.
Improved accessibility
The redeveloped pavilion will encourage increased community use, improved accessibility and will enable VFL football matches to continue to be played at the Williamstown Cricket Ground.
Given the number of organisations and clubs using the facility, it is important that it's maintained to a high standard.
The Council thanks the current Member for Williamstown, Wade Noonan and the former member Steve Bracks, for their efforts in bringing this project to fruition.
150th anniversary
President of the Williamstown Football Club, Mr Trevor Monti said the Williamstown Football Club welcomed the funding, especially as 2008 marks the 150th year of VFL/AFL matches being played in Victoria.
The Williamstown Cricket Ground has also been home to the Williamstown Cricket Club since 1882.
Further information
The Australian Football League will also contribute $500,000, with the Williamstown Football Club contributing $1.5 million.
Residents who live near the cricket ground will be consulted about the redevelopment. |

LOL VP.
Funnily enough, that's the same comment I now get whenever I post in the VFL Forum. _________________ Whale

Perhaps Dale could confirm, but anyone else has information I would be interested to read it. |
So, due to my continued support of Williamstown, whenever I've posted in the VFL Forum I've been advised that my comments are to be ignored, but now my opinion is being asked for?
Sorry, but can't have it both ways!
Two things I can tell you:
1/. $42mill is way off the mark - not even close.
2/. This was announced, and made public, about 4 weeks ago. _________________ Whale

Sounds like a lonely little man that is looking to cling to anyone that is willing to share in his vitriolic bile.

So why reply in the thread?
The title clearly states what the thread is about. _________________ "MAKE COLLINGWOOD GRATE AGAIN" |

VFL Magpies is the name of the "section", not VFL Maggulls or Seapies. It bears no relevance. Sorry to rain on your parade. _________________ "If they are to trying to get revenge they will lose" - MM classic one liner in the lead up to the Port game. |

Way to edit a post! You asked a question, I've told you what people think of me posting in the VFL forum, and for that you reply as you did?
If you are so interested in what's happening at Burbank, it's on public record on what's been approved and how much money has been allocated. It's easy enough to find if you know where to look.
At least Williamstown still has a home ground to call it's own. _________________ Whale
