My best players ....... Blair, Barham, Dawes, Bryan, Reid & McCarthy
Also thought Thoolen played ok down at Full Back for the first 3 quarters. Didn't play the last term.
Beams also racked up a heap of possessions but I didn't think Beams wasn't too influential but he did have quite a few handballs whilst he was in and under at the stoppages. Perhaps cos I rate the kid so highly I viewed his game a bit more harshly the others.
Thought Barham was exceptional in quarters 1, 3 & 4. Blair was sensational in a consistent 4 quarter effort. Showed great extracting abilities and some dash too. |

How far is Blair of a Senior game do you think?
Do you think He'll make it in the Big League?
I thought when we rookie drafted him that he was a bargin (i.e. winner of the U18 B&F).
I know he is short and small, but is his pace/agility/skills good enough to make up for it (ala Boomer Harvey?)? |

The question mark on him is obviously his height at AFL level, but crikey if you keep getting the pill, size don't matter. |

Watched him again today and the guy is as hard as nails at the footy and is a tackle machine.
Uses the footy very well and has very good evasive skills.
Yes mate - He will make it big time. I have no doubt at all.
As you can tell I've become a big fan of the kid. |

Blair is a very good footballer. Highlight of the day was the collingwood supporter and his great sound effects when the Bullants were shooting at goal and putting them off. Okeefe i think did well and Cloke on the other hand was utter crap for the bullants. |

Preston were 5 wins from 6 games going into this game and playing very good footy. This was a 4 quarter effort of some note by Rowdy's boys. _________________ "MAKE COLLINGWOOD GRATE AGAIN" |

Yes Blair was sensational, I had the same conversation with my mum today at the game about how it would be a crime if the fact his height cost him a chance of playing AFL footy. Don't think it will be an issue, whilst we'll agree VFL is a very different level of footy, he is doing all the right things.
Today showed everything he had to offer, will go in hard to get the pill, but not just an in and under extractor, he will get it, come out of the pack with the ball, then pace will carry him away from the contest, giving him time to use the ball well. A couple of things today showed he had a smart footy brain also, just the ability to hold the ball up, wait for support, then do something with it.
Thools was excellent today, has been most of the year.
Bryan, can't fault him that much, he might be pissed off at not getting senior games but it doesn't show, very vocal at the breaks, on the ground and works hard for 4 quarters.
Dawes - Not sure what he's done wrong but it's certainly not on the ground at VFL level. He's another i'd consider a talented but also smart footy player.
Jaxson was pretty good today, ran and ran and ran, his disposal let him down at times but way more positives than negatives. His desire to play on, take on the game, break the floods/zones was great.
Corrie - seems to be the whipping boy, he got a lot of it today but another whose disposal let him down and a couple of attacks on the pill he'd rather not re-live.
Beams - I agree with the above, was servicable, got a few touches, was hard at it but didn't really stand out as someone who took the game by the scruff of the neck. Certainly wasn't bad
Keefe - Fast becoming my favourite player, i'm a huge fan. Agile, wants to make every contest, seems to have a good tank, workrate is incredible. And there is nothing more enjoyable to watch than a big lanky ruckman take a run and a bounce
Forgot to mentions Johnny Mac who made a very promising comeback.
Reid I thought had another great game up back.
And I took much delight in watching Cam Cloke running around doing nothing...I know that is terrible but there it is. |
