Ruck development over last decade

I was watchinh the replay and noticed how well Cameron played in the 2nd half, really coming along well.

And it got me thinking; our ruck development over the last 10 years has been really good, from scouting to development to blooding. Grundy obviously, but Witts as well, and now Cameron...I'm probably forgetting some other ones too.

When you cast your mind back to the Malthouse years, and the damage not having a decent ruck did, it is certainly refreshing to have that position covered.

Malthouse wrecked Josh Fraser. To be fair, we didn’t know McKee was sick (legionnaires right?) and just thought he was a dud. It wasn’t until Jolly that Malthouse woke up

But even then he had to bring one in, never developed one in his years there.

McKee was a decent backup to Fraser before the rule changes at the end of 2002 effectively killed his career.

We had the likes of Fanning, Richards and Bryan after that but they weren't up to it. Jolly was a good upgrade to Fraser for 2010/11.

Another rule brought into negate us. Mate whose son in law played for the scum recruited McKee for the O and M league. Murdered em there and never left the forward 40.

I like the look of the young kid, Moyle, who is a big bodied 205 cm giant, who rucked for our VFL side a couple of weeks ago. He is a bit slow and lumbering, but took a couple of nice marks and showed some footy smarts. If we took him in the mid-season draft, at only 19yrs of age, we would have a few years to develop him into a future ruckman.
