For the sake of Dayle Garlett I'm hoping his career does work out and he ends up making it to the top level. He's got so much potential so therefore it would be a great shame if it went to waste in the end.

Hawthorn knew that they took a massive risk drafting Garlett. If they can somehow pull this off then they're the big winners for drafting him as opposed to other clubs who overlooked him but it does look like that in hindsight that our recruiters along with other club recruiters were right to overlook him in the end.

Not just ours, but every club in the AFL. This kid is going to wake up one day in his mid 20s and wonder what the **** he was thinking in throwing this away. Professional sports a is dream level occupation and 90% of men in Australia would give their left nut to play AFL,NRL,Rugby or cricket at a top level.

This guy has also stolen someone elses dream and taken a dump on it. I'll never understand people who catch these breaks and just throw them away.

Plenty of other 18 year olds leave home at 18 and work more than 38-45 a week. Students, military, farm workers. trouble is they never get a 5th of the money he would get in the first couple of years. Basically he doesn't want it. And in 3 years time it will be too late. The kids with 3 years in the system will towel him up in a game.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.
