Buckley wanted hard nosed contested players, Hine gave them to him, IMO if Hine was told to draft the best available to fill the positions he thought (as list manager) were needed we would've drafted differently, looks to me Eds throwing Hine under the bus to give Buckley one last roll of the dice.

Hine was a so/so recruiter IMV.
His drafting has failed when he was promoted to a list manager.
He has failed to extract much value and do good trades of senior players from other clubs.
We should have left him in drafting and had a dedicated List Manager. Hawks have Wright act as a List Manager and he lets his recruiting manager handle the drafts.

Hine is kind of a sacred cow.
Ask yourself, who was the last bonafide A Grader he has drafted? Beams in 08' is probably that.
Moore is going to be special but the window cleaner would have picked him up as a Father Son.
Hine has really had a bad few years and ever since he became the List Manager, he has delivered poor results.
The loss of Kevin Taylor can't be understated either. He was with Hine til 2010 but took charge of Melbourne's recruiting after 2011. He's spanking Hine currently.
