Yep he would be going nowhere if his last year and a half was 4.2 per game! Amazing what a inverting a few numbers can do?
Never the less I am sad to see him go. He will always be a 200+ game player for us.

Nor, on their displays today, would Williams, Oxley, Gault, Witts, Phillips, Crocker or Wills, which is a more significant concern.

Not quite true. But we would have said the same about most of the Dogs VFL players when they lost by 70 in week 1. Big losses tend to make players look bad.

Big losses like this demonstrate the absence of meaningful on-field leadership from the senior-listed players. Does anyone really think This Footscray VFL team is 108 points better than Collingwood on any given day? No, they just want it a lot, lot more.

i didn't say 2 goals, 4 behinds. I said 2.4 goals.
Fair enough, I miss interpreted that, but it wouldn't be far off his accuracy rate maight be around 2 gaols 3 behinds.......

Hilariously, he hasn't kicked more behinds than goals in any season since 2010. We seemed to cope OK with that.

He had a 12-year career with us. We won the flag in his 6th year. By then, he had played 124 games for 155 goals (an average of 1.25 goals per game). In the second half of his career, he has played a further 122 games for a further 286 goals (an average of 2.3 goals per game). Thus he scored an extra goal and a bit per game in the second half of his career (2011-2016). That includes his poor 2016. His time with us is done but, for all the frustrations of watching him, that won't be readily replaced.

I'm struggling to understand why Dunkley wouldn't have been a much better pickup than Sier in last year's national draft. I'm starting to think that Hine needs to justify some of his selections. Kennedy won't get a game at Melbourne next year. Freeman never wanted to play at Collingwood and has no ticker. Gault has been kept too long on the list. We have no developing KPP's coming through on our list. Why does Buckley cop it all the time but not the guy in charge of list management?

I asked this in the VFL thread Pies4Shaw, but you must have missed it.

Question, on todays performance, do you reckon Cloke will get a game in the Footscray VFL team next year?

be a sad finish to a career playing VFL reserves.

Man read some of my past posts on Hine!
Remember
"In Hine we Trust"
"Another Hine gem"
"Gold Hine Gold"
"Let Hine weave his magic"
Blah blah blah.
we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.

Cant wait to get this trade done.

If the dogs lose in the PF or the GF, they might want to get their trades done quickly.

If they went all they way, they'd probably be less enthusiastic at the trade table.

If we got a pick in the 30s and a fringe player with potential, then we would have done well. If we only get the pick, then I'd be slightly disappointed. If we only got a player, then I'd hope its someone that is half decent. Not expecting a miracle trade here.

Is there any possibility that another player could be packaged with Cloke for a better pick or player?

I suppose it would depend on how much the Dogs really want Cloke.

Remember how we "sold the farm" to get Treloar and Aish last period?
Thus we had no picks prior to #32, Dunkley long gone by then at #25...
Am I right in thinking we did have access to a low twenties pick at some point, before dealing it away? Or was that the year prior?

Be interesting to see the reactions in 12 months when Cloke is playing in a afl prelim for the Dogs and Collingwood has had yet another season where they fell well short of finals

If that is the case, we'll be too busy inducting a replacement coach and game plan to worry about what the Welfare are doing...
