My first home game at St James Park

Post by Presti35 »

Well last night was the first time I had visited St James for a Newcastle United home game.

I've been to the MLS and the A-League. I've been to games in the Bundesliga and La Liga. I've seen Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Man U, Chelsea, and several other English teams play at home.

Nothing compared to the atmosphere and vibe of last nights game in Newcastle.

Sadly, it ended in a 1-1 tie after Leeds equalised at 90+5. (Some idiot also ran onto the pitch).

Aside from that last minute shocker, it was the best fun I've ever had at a match.

One negative would be the attitude of the staff working in the team store (day before). They were absolutely shocking. They were standing around in a group of 4, chatting to each other, not greeting anyone and cracked the shits when some people were waiting at an unmanned register. Honestly, it was one of the worst things I'd seen in a retail store.

Anyway, the game/stadium was just outstanding.

I watched that game live - on my iphone, through FoxtelGo, on a Bein Sports channel, with 1 bar of reception, camping on a farm in Longford, with the phone on charge, in my car, whilst it was about 1*C, at 4:30am.
What a world we live in!!

Would rather have watched it from where you were though......!!

The fixture has just come out and there'll be one home game before we're coming back to Melbourne.

Would love to get there, but its the first home game (Against Hotspurs) since being promoted. So tickets will be tough.
