We played the time of football I like all game for the first or second time this year. However after being so far ahead we needed to change our style a bit as they closed. Poor coaching in the end after a great start

Very proud of the contest, work rate and desire just lacking a little in application. I enjoy listening to his press conferences. Full of praise for Wells, Tay, Sidey and Darcy.

FWIW, I reckon the players ARE playing for him, he has not lost them, last week and this, showed that, for me. 8)

Did you notice the first goal that Blair kicked? It was the result of a knockdown of the ball by WHE out of the hands of the Adelaide player who was about to mark the ball. Doesn't show up on the stat sheet of WHE but you can mark down as a WHE goal. Plenty of other instances of play where WHE is the difference between the ball travelling down the end where Collingwood is kicking, or back down the end Adelaide is kicking towards their goals. Pity you don't notice what others find obvious.
WHE is an interesting kettle of fish. He has great skills, we see him mark the ball with sticky fingers and kick with accuracy and run like Forest Gump, he can play. What I will say is that he has a few weaknesses to improve on like any young footballer. I think he just needs confidence in his body to really take on opponents and win that contested ball. A bit of gym work will help and I think he is just trying to find his place, what is his best position? Is he a mid or high fwd or a half back sweeper? He could be any and all. He will be a gun once he understands how good he can be and works hard to achieve it. I would like to see him add 5 kilo and start pushing opponents off the ball more and look a bit more aggressive. He'll be ok.

On track to be better than his old man. I reckon we get more out of him when he is on the ball than Grundy - he is far more mobile, faster and smarter also.
Those running leads down the ground today were fantastic - he looked like a true CHF doing that.

Thrashed weak after week up forward in the air. Sides know they can nullify or win the aerial contest at half forward then sling shot it forward. Adelaide did it seven goals in a row and a few on top of that in the second half. I blame their lack of recruiting of talls over the years. Too many guys like aish phillips blair broomhead . Good honest players but limited physicallt. Be it height strength pace or a combination. hopes on brown and daicos are tempered by the fact they are the same sort of players.as has been pinted out. They aren't far off yet they are mile off. Where are our young talls comong through to support darcy? This is where we have missed out. You could see it coming five years or more ago with their emphasis on recruiting midfielders with top up forwards or backs from other clubs as kpps

I like Darcy, I really do but he'll be going some to beat his old man.

Went today. Very interesting game. I had some good intell about about our tactics pre game and listened to Bucks' post game presser.

The team is a funny one. We played very well today but made several small errors particularly kicking the ball into 50. This is where the game turned. Adelaide one defensively and then transitioned forward brilliantly. The reason they won the defensive contests was that our mids were not kicking to advantage our forwards enough. We also lack a gun key forward that can just win a contest. (We should get McGovern if we can - we would definitely play finals if we had him in the team)

I think the collective playing IQ of the team is low. Dunn is a smart footy player as is Wells and Elliott but we have quite a few dumb players like Maynard (whom I like and will get there) Blair (just a car crash waiting to happen) De Goey Adams. This is a coaching issue. Look at the way Clarko can get Hawthorn to change styles across a season. We can't seem to change this year on year.

Class - agree with posters that Wells and WHE have added a lot to us this year, as has Billy Elliott. We need more class.

All up I was happy today but I am not happy with where the club is at. We need to get a coach who can get the players to adhere to a game plan for four quarters. We need a recruiter who recruits a spine. We need stability in the footy manager - I like Walsh. Old school and knows what todo.

I think Monco Matt was closest with his posts today on what happened. It is important not to let emotion rule our analysis of the game. Passion is great and all posters here want to see the Pies win.

I also think that a lot of supporters have lost faith in the club and it is showing in the poor crowd numbers.

Amen to that.In a team full of Hine/Buckley plodders,he stands out like a beacon of light.

swooper wrote: Well said. Honestly some on here are seriously prone to histrionics . I never thought we'd get that close today . What I saw was a side (undermanned somewhat) trying its guts out . Adelaide were always going to cone back at us...hard . I saw team sitting on top of the ladder playing a team sitting 13th. They tried but failed against probable premiers
What an absolute crock. I said to anyone who wanted to listen we would BEAT Adelaide and put my hard earned on them at Avery juicy $3.60 and although being 50 points up was not in the plan,Iit is my opinion that Adelaide are flat track bullies who don't like the hard stuff which we proved today. In the end it wasn't Adelaide who beat us ,it was Collingwood ,with it's insipid play at times and a fair smattering of unbelievably bad and biased umpiring cost us the game. We drew but every other person on the planet will feel as if the Colliwobbles resurfaced today and we will be the laughing stock of the AFL for another year.Pride is a word you should choose very carefully and today is not the time to use it I feel.
Lighten up. Our season was shot before this game. For league leaders to come back from 50 points down is nothing these days. It takes two sides to tango. As long as you play your best footy we should all feel proud. Also to single out one player for the resulting draw when all 22 players are playing their guts out, is weak form.
Lighten up??? Not only did I think we could win but if we did we were STILL a slight chance of making the 8. We are now officially sunk so I don't feel light and ebullient ,I feel Fkucing down and out !!! OK??And further more, if you had read a previous post I outlined my feelings in a vent that made me feel pretty good and there were several players who let us down,Blair has done it twice under similar circumstances and it sticks out like 2 ....well...Dogs balls.

I am not as upset as I thought I would be however what is necessary is that the match committee censure Brainless I mean Brayden Maynard by dropping him for the rest of the year. 17 is the magic number he is up to! 17 you may ask?? Well since the start of 2016 Brayden has coughed a Benny Hill montage of 17 goals "handed on a platter" through his dumb, unintelligent and complete lack of football nous.

It's almost as embarrassing as the Chris Mayne recruitment and the Jarryd Blair weekly selection!

Monco Matt wrote:How good was Wells though? This guy was amazing today. When he has the ball I feel pretty good about what could happen. He is silk. 6-1-1 with him playing. I hope he goes on for another 5 years like that evergreen gun S. Burgoyne, he destroyed Sydney friday night.

Best game so far from Scharenberg, looked more confident with ball in hand. Blair was pretty good until he gave away that free late in the game. But I thought he was ok. this was one of his better games, kicked a massive goal in the last which got me off my seat.
Id still drop Blair, but I agree it was one of his better games. Those who murdered him for the htb decision in the last minute are way off. He tried to buy time to release it to a Pies player and got pinged in the heat of the moment. This is always a risk when you actually gather the ball. The unforgivable fails were Howe trying to take the big mark rather than spoil with a second to go, the lack of any Pies aerial contest after Langdon's kick, and Langdon's inept decision to Kick it 25m inside the boundary rather than 10m from the line. As usual, Blair gets the blame for others' failures.

I have always supported Buckley, but I thought his tactical coaching - moves, in other words - was awful in the second half today.
