All i heard from my ess mates on fri night and during saturday was that the result didn't matter, that we had struggled to beat a skeleton ess team, that they were the ones taking all the positives from fri night, and that they couldn't wait to see us again in 2 weeks. I was laughed off when i suggested they hold fire, as clarko was a big chance to do a number on the eagles
I didn't hear from them on saturday night or sunday
To me, all positives.
After the first quarter, we identified at least two areas: got too many players near the stoppages, and they were allowed to move the ball very quickly from the back. We stopped these two scenarios from occurring since. The game was played on our term.
If we kicked straight 5 of those 15 behinds, we would have won by almost 7 goals.
With all the better players coming back from injuries, we will go one step better than last year! Go Pies!!!
Sadly our use of the footy in F50 was average and we kicked 10.16 for the night. Yep, we had 11 more scoring shots than Essendon. And it was an eleven point win.
If we can convert these inside 50's into more goals, we'll be very, very, hard to beat.
The idea that this was a "skeleton" Essendon team is a little irksome. I may be wrong and haven't bothered to check, but aren't they looking to get 4 players back for finals?
We have three fairly handy players returning too: Steele, Stevo, JDG.
It was a decent match. We started off without the required pressure across the field, the number one thing needed to beat Essendon. Once we righted that and stopped their run we took control. Should have won comfortably but didn't take our chances.
Last rounds are a bit like firsts. Take the win any way you can get it, no points for style.

Well, it's how many players they won't get back for finals that also matters (e.g. big Joe and his porn-movie moustache).
And there's nothing that says it couldn't have been one skeleton playing another skeleton.

Bring on JDG and Stevo.
We also shanked a few shots at goal which went out of bounds on the full.
How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say?

And we have several of those as well, but almost all of the talk has been about the Essendon players missing.
