If one is announced then nominations will be received for the seven positions on the board and the voting members then choose who they believe are the best people to serve the club. Those chosen for the board then select one of them to be president. We then are left with a board that has been selected by the voting members - isn't that what a democratic institution such as CFC is supposed to be? How many of the current board members have actually been voted on the board by the members?
Worst case scenario is you get from an EGM a totally dysfunctional board which then cripples the club. Poor skill mix, people with different agendas, people who won't/can't work with each other.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, possibly, probably, definitely.

They just need a good president - appealing, young, played sport before?

Why?

The Collingwood board oversees a multi-million dollar behemoth. It's not Laharum or Avoca or Mooroopna with the netballers and footballers selling cans and working the canteen. They are not selectors. The president needs to be someone with business nous and experience who keeps his/her/their head and mouth out of the football department's business.

The board needs to oversee the football department and recruit the best FOOTBALL people for the men's and women's teams. Best NETBALL people for the netball department. Set goals for those departments, and be SEPARATE from them so they can make the hard decisions. When you blur the president, the board and the football department you get what we have had to put up with since midway thru 2011.
Get back on top.

A bid to force a spill of the Collingwood board has landed in the Victorian Supreme Court.

In a dramatic escalation of the Magpies’ board fight, former club solicitor Francis Galbally has lodged a Supreme Court application aimed at expediting the staging of an extraordinary general meeting.

Galbally’s lawyers are seeking orders for Collingwood to hand over a copy of the club’s register of members, needed to validate the signatures of thousands of supporters gathered to trigger a spill of the Mark Korda-led board.

A hearing before a judge of the Supreme Court could be held within weeks.

In an affidavit signed by Galbally, Collingwood is accused of breaching section 173 of the Corporations Act in refusing to disclose its membership register.

“I have become increasingly concerned about the governance and overall direction of the club,” Galbally says.

Alisa Camplin Prez, Dr Bridie McBulldog Vice Prez?

Yeah nah

PS board are only thinking of themselves. As highlighted by Galbally, they’ve clearly breached laws. Unlike other organisations who change their names to avoid releasing member lists, financials etc, I can’t see Collingwood doing that

And it continues

I seriously can’t understand this mess

Why couldn’t a third party verifiy the signatures

If the members want it let the process happen

Delayed tactics is crazy
Wasted money

Let the members vote

The Australian had a good article today about the tussle;
Jeff browne basically laid the blame on the fiasco of the salary cap issues purely on Korda. Korda was chairman of the finance committee.
Korda and co are trying to ignore the demands by a number of members for a spill.
Given the disaster of this season and the unrest by many many members and supporters it would be wise if it was fought out as soon as possible.
But Korda and Co are blocking the election at least for now.
I will take Browne's side.
As a person who has a Maths degree I do not understand how such a fu..k up could occur in the salary cap.
It is basic Maths to work out.
You forfeit your right to claim competence after this dismal effort.
Korda and co need to go.

Jeff Browne is very carefully and smart politically to target all his criticisms onto Mark Korda, as he is demonstrably the weakest performing member of the current Board.

Actually it wouldn't surprise me if Korda soon announced that he would stand down at the next AGM. He may have only recently become President, but he has been a board member for 14 yrs, so, more than anyone else, he should be held to account for our clubs current failures. I'm sure it would please the other current board members if he stood down.

Concur - this obstructionism is unconstitutional and an attempt to block a legitimate request by bonafide Members to hold an EGM.

The only reason that Korda and Co are obstructing the process is because they know that they will be voted out if it went to the members.

Alisa ticks all of these.
A criteria for selecting a head coach would not be this ridiculous so why for a president?
Alisa has been on the board for a number of years.
That is enough for posters to demand the head of Korda

Alisa Camplin is no longer on the board. She departed at the start of 2018.
