Rules similar to past seasons.
A maximum of 10 AFLW listed players may be selected in any given VFLW round.

Here is the list of AFLW listed players nominated to play VFLW at the start of the season:

https://www.womens.afl/news/118851/stat ... g-to-play-

So far, we have only seen a couple of AFLW listed players in the VFLW - EJ, Porter, Lin, Fowler, Evans. Eleri Morris has played a couple of games but not on the original list.

A couple of seasons ago the Pies decided to only have U25 AFLW listed players in the VFLW team and use it as development. From memory it was 2019/2020. Not sure if that is the case now.

Like the AFL/VFL, the women's program does try and work together. Steve Symon (AFLW head coach) is often at the VFLW games. Chloe Molloy is working with the AFLM as part of her coach development, so she can see how the top & 2nd tier work together. With the seasons not running concurrently it does make it a bit more difficult to bring players in & out of the team. AFLW training starts this month, so we may see more players brought in.

Half time:

Saints 1.4.10 leading Pies 0.0.2

Pies struggling to make the most of their inside 50s.
Opposite to last week game where there was a lot more run.
Scrappy game, Pies will have to be cleaner with the ball in the 2nd half.

Apparently was a horrible game and nothing was good about it.

They say was the slowest game ever played and like was stoppage after stoppage.

Was like rugby and like slow as.

I think Collingwood needs to re set again.

Looks like they have lost focus on the game.

Got their mojo back.

Pies 11.6.72 defeated Darebin 2.1.13

Goals: Dojiok 4, Sargent, Bates, De Matteo 2, Hosking 1

Disposals: Bates 38, Bunker 21, Zander 20

Biggest win and kicked their highest score this season. The Pies did beat Darebin earlier in the season (26 point win) but it was a hard slog. Much better game this time around and good coming off a couple of disapointing losses.

Another BOG for Jess Bates.

North are currently leading Essendon (final game of the round) so the Pies could go up to 3rd on the ladder with this % boosting win.

Round 11 review:

https://www.afl.com.au/news/944812/revi ... w-round-11

No coaches votes announced for round 11 - votes have gone 'in camera' for the last 4 rounds.

After round 10 leaderboard:

72 Jess Bates (COL)
45 Tahlia Meier (WB)
44 Tessa Boyd (SS)
44 Emily Eaves (WIL)
40 Maddie Di Cosmo (CAR)

Based on her 38 disposals and 2 goals, I am assuming Jess Bates would have got the maximum votes in the game against Darebin. Meier and Boyd would have to score 10 votes in each of their remaining games to beat Jess which is highly unlikely (both had relatively quiet games in round 11).

Carlton edged Collingwood by 7 points in a hard and gale gusty northern direction winds today at AIA
Was a hard slog no real winner was at times and a lot of it unwatchable
Carlton had to win a lose and that would have ended their season
Collingwood had to win to cement top 3 now have to wait another week to get a chance to cement finals
They play cats at AIA again on Saturday afternoon
Nothing really today was a horrible game a few injuries came out of it
Attendance wasn’t much either only say around 20 attended at AIA
The cafe coffee’s only and a burger truck was the only hospitality choice there
To me Collingwood VFLW needs to sort itself out
They are dropping to many games
Need to improve or it will be the end very quickly
Life or it’s all over
Must win next week
Be good if they can get some aflw players in there

Final score:

Blues 5.4.34 defeated Pies 4.2.26

Goals: Sargent, Bates, Kane, Nikolitsis

Top disposals: Bates 25, Ricardo & Nikolitsis 14 each, Zander 13

Blues were much better at ground level and used their run to move the ball into their forward quickly putting the Pies defenders under constant pressure.

Pies did not make the most of their forward entries in the first quarter when they had the wind. Was blowing a gale at AIA, across the ground to AAMI park and favouring the river end.

Was close for most of the game as the Blues did not capitilise on their inside 50s with the wind. A free kick off the ball in the forward line and a 50m penalty essentially gave the Blues the win in the last quarter, although they probably could have won by much more.

Disapointing game for the Pies, not only a loss but with Saints losing and the Cats/Hawks draw, they could have gone up to top spot on the ladder. Now they are back in 6th, in the top six on %.

Next up a tough game against the Cats on Sunday 25 June.
